They really should’ve offered us a helluva lot more for Roma - they need him.

I don't really begrudge the AFL trying to create an AFL culture up north. I don't see how else they could have done it. The rest of the league has to wear it for a generation, but the game advances into the rugby states and becomes more national. We might not like it and it might not be fair, but if they want to perservere with the nationalisation of the sport, I can't really think of a better way to do it.

Cats look pretty awful but you can tell the Suns are just stacked in a way we haven't seen a team since the dynasty Cats. It's ridiculous that this has been allowed to happen but jeez it'll feel amazing if we can beat them.

I reckon this Suns team is a lot better than those GWS teams talent-wise. I think if any club can win a flag through sheer weight of quality players alone it’ll be them

I won’t be surprised if Carlton beat Richmond, Melbourne and the Kangaroos in there next 3 games making them 3-1.

Last year the pies got spanked against the giants in opening round then went on a 5 game winning streak to sit on top of the ladder after round 6.

Lots to play out.

Round one can throw up some weird results. I reckon you need to look at the first 6 weeks to get any real form guide. Sydney looked incredible but they won't kick that straight all year. They were turning half chances into goals with a greasy ball. Carlton were running really well for a half and then seemed to go to water as soon as Sydney started to roll over them.

To be fair it's half a Geelong side in the conditions that suit GC and no-one else. Suns have had a lot of good players but they struggle to import drive and purpose up there. It's a career graveyard because of it. This is easily their best set up but it does seem hard to create motivation there.

It's really hard to win flags when you have too much cream and not enough milk IMO. You need a portion of the list that are sacrificial team players who do the foundation stuff for the stars to shine. Or you can get a bit too used to doing the pretty stuff instead of the hard stuff. Finals are fought out not handed out.

Going up to Queensland this early in the season is an absolute graveyard.

The AFL has its head so far up its own arse on this they'll never realise how they are destroying the competitiveness of the comp, and the game is too good and ingrained in Vic, WA and SA culture for people to turn it off.
