I’m not watching but hearing that a 1st (2nd?) gamer is able to easily get touches bodes v well for himSwalding ball magnet
I wouldn’t be boasting about 13 kicks in the Seconds.Allan easily CFC's best mid...Not a lot of help...Swalding ball magnet, Ryan solid down back... Absolutely, no relentlessly attacking football, not great footy to watch as a CFC supporter.

We don't have depth but you don't get it. 19 year old AFL listed kids are often not yet as good as mature VFL players. They're drafted for potential from junior footy - not because they're good VFL players yet.One of the commentators said we have 17 AFL listed players today, and they have only 8.That says quite a bit about our depth. And what it says is it’s not good,
Yes, he is. If Dan McStay is a footy player then so is Ed and I happen to believe they both are. Non footballers don't gather a pill with an opponent hot on their heels, burn them off while having a casual bounce and then hit a target as Ed did in our last clash. It's using his obvious skill and athleticism more often in games which is the issue. Could not the same be said of Dan McStay who gets named week in week out when fit for very little output in most games?yea i have been a believer in Allen, but thats 3-4 poor efforts in 5 minutes..
he is just not a footy player.
I reckon West is the only one right now I’d promote tbh….Allan was fairly good early but his second half was pretty awful.
Swadling looks one touch, but isn’t quite up with the speed of VFL yet. He’ll get better the more he plays.
Hayes did some really nice things, weights passes well an knows how to find a goal.
Reef was impressive, we desperately missed him after he went off.
West looks too good for the VFL now. Probably needs to get a bit more selfish tbh, he’s such a good kick for goal.
I feel it’s more Development over ResultsThe problem with VFL is it is not really a legit comp, if we were serious about the win then Reef and HH would have played on, some positional decsions would have been different. Maybe we would have played some mature non listed players etc. I liked TJ's game, Swadling, Howes, Hayes,West,Anderson, McCarthy all look pretty good to me.

Cricket is going brokeTrue… but this compromise helps with equalisation with the lesser resourced standalone clubs
That being said if I had my way… there would be a national reserves comp, and a VFL/VFA or new independent comp of the AFL…a premier tier comp for the standalone clubs and other top metro teams with solid backing and maybe a broadcast deal with ABC or Stan or something
VIC cricket successfully does this format
Disregarding the early call on Saxena, I thought he found his way into the game. Not great, not outstanding, but also not lost out there. On ok first run for us.
Re Swadling and Prindable - I liked more of what I saw from them in one game than I’ve seen from HDM in three years.
West we know about, but McCarthy also looks like (taking a deep breath) a developing tall forward. Hard to believe, I know, but he was definitely out there today wearing black and white stripes.
Of the new draftees, I was most impressed with Zac McCarthy. I didn't see him panic or make bad decisions.Disregarding the early call on Saxena, I thought he found his way into the game. Not great, not outstanding, but also not lost out there. On ok first run for us.

Is it possible that swadling and/or Anderson can crack the seniors team after the mid season bye?
How did printable look? What is the one main the he needs to work on to be ready for senior football?
I know it was their first run, but did any of them show any tough play at or around stoppages?Based on one game, I’d have Gus ahead of Swadling ahead of Prindable.
But that order could change after the next game.
Gus being older and more experienced could probably play seniors now, if there’s a spot.
The other two may be seen later in the season, but again this could change quickly depending on their development.
