Creating a security buffer zone because Lebanese people are so scary, meanwhile they're talking about which of them will settle the land because it's not scary at all.
Not the Lebanese people - Hezbollah. The Lebanese hate them too but they’re entrenched, well funded and supplied by Iran. Not for much longer, hopefully.

He does? What did Barnaby do?
I saw the clip on tv with my own eyes 😯. There’s a report in the Telegraph but it’s paywalled. No one else seems to want to report it.

But - and you might not like this - this was from One Nation on Facebook:

This is how real policy gets done.

Barnaby Joyce took a practical, industry-backed solution to Australia’s fuel shortage and turned it into action. A massive thanks to Matt Adamson for bringing this policy concept forward. After working closely with industry operators, suppliers, and logistics experts, Barnaby Joyce backed a plan that went from the drawing board to the national agenda in a matter of days.

He listened, asked the right questions, and made sure the policy stacked up in the real world. Then he took it straight to the top.

The result? The federal government is moving to underwrite fuel imports and secure supply for regional Australia.

It’s a clear example of what happens when you engage with industry, trust expertise, and fight to get outcomes. One Nation is now doing the work of the government. But as Barnaby Joyce says, this is a rare occasion to thank the Prime Minister for taking our idea on.

The newspaper article might have more details.

So Albanese is underwriting fuel imports (subsidising for what reason?) and One Nation are taking credit?

If they're so dangerous to need a buffer zone, then the Israelis wouldn't want to live in the buffer zone, right? Right?

They don’t. They live in Israel. The buffer zone is in southern Lebanon, set but never monitored by the UN. Hezbollah did as they liked, building tunnels within sight of the unmanned or barely manned UN watching post.

He does something good and they want the credit. Ofc (in the most sarcastic tone possible?) 🤣

What happened in the security buffer zone in the West Bank they needed to keep them separate from the scary Palestinians? Oh, that's right, Israelis moved into those zones and started committing terrorist attacks on Palestinians.

These security buffer zones are just an excuse for Israeli terrorists to launch attacks on Palestinians.

Unfortunately, the Albanese Govt (and LNP Govts) allow fundraising for these terrorist attacks launched from supposed safety buffer zones in Australia and doesn't do anything to stop them.

Ah, yes, the old ‘saving Lebanon by bombing Lebanon’. I’m sure they are all very appreciative.

Do you realise that hezbollah were formed as a reaction to horrific massacres in the early 80s or are you ignorant to that fact?

Cure for insomnia.
Having said that, I’m old enough to be nostalgic for the days when PMs used the new medium of television to directly tell us something important.

I can recall Gorton, McMahon, Whitlam doing this. Not so much since.

I wonder whether Albo’s decided the old way of PR actually has more impact than any amount of SM swill, even if it reaches fewer people.

He'll announce that it's not a race to secure oil supply.

covid vibes getting stronger

Looking to shore up economic confidence and spending is my guess. Reports of peeps canning road trips leading to a loss of money for tourism and potentially people restricting retail spending may have follow on effects.

It may be also to debunk a lot of the FUEL CRISIS!!! scaremongering in the media to lay out how we are getting fuel supply) by using LNG as leverage).

I think it’ll be similar to KRudd’s Oct 2008 Address about the GFC where he sought to shore up economic confidence and announced stimulus measures

An out-of-the-ordinary reassurance of petrol supply is not going to be much reassurance.

It's been a huge blow for the west coast of WA, with the cyclone and people would have been holding off on trips.

Now you've got rate rises and petrol price increases. People will be staying at home a lot more, nationwide.

Tourism is going to cop a massive whack in QLD, NT and WA. People cancelling their laps around Australia everywhere.

Beating Trump to the punch
Yeah, it's widely reported that Trump is going to declare 'mission accomplished' and leave Iran in two weeks - will do this via a national address on Wednesday night (Thursday morning our time). The timing is aimed solely to see a bump in the US sharemarket prior to the Easter shutdown. He and his oligarch mates will make yet more billions on the rebound.

Of course Trump and Netanyahu have achieved nothing but yet more massive loss of lives and infrastructure destruction across the Arab states that will take years/decades to fix. The negative impact hurting almost every country in the globe.

Not sure why Albo want to pre-empt that announcement. Maybe because he wants to look after our own stock market/ financial situation before the Easter break by providing updates on the fuel supply issue. Pity it's not later in the night - he monotone rambling is better than a dose of Mogadon.

One thing's for sure. He ain't going to speak the truth and call out the Trump/Netanyahu axis of evil for what it is and the long term damage it has and continues to wreak across the globe.

Andrew Hastie is the only prominent politician one who's been prepared to do that.

I moved my super back into shares-focused today, which I guess is betting on the war winding down.
