Collingwood or Richmond.

I'm convinced Carlton and Essendon will never get it together.

Looking only at the rebuild, it's:

Richmond
Essendon
Carlton
Collingwood

As Hawthorn and Sydney have shown, culture matters more. Factoring that in, I'll go with:

Richmond
Collingwood
Essendon = Carlton

Richmond already has that out of rebuild spunk to them. They'll be contending in five years like clockwork.

Collingwood. They are perennial contenders, the others aren't. Collingwood makes a GF every 5 or so years on average. Richmond may get there first if their rebuild is successful. Carlton and Essendon are a decade away minimum, who knows if/when they'll ever sort their shit out.

My gut feel is none of the above but I agree that culture matters so Collingwood will find a way back.

Tigers without Gale I'm not sure .

So probably Collingwood then none of the above.

None of the above?
Although the Pies do have the best player in the AFL still only 23 yrs old, so you can never write them off.
They will find a way to contend again soon, especially if they can land Butters and or Ben King.

none of the above, with soon to be 19 teams even if any get half decent soon chances are they still won’t win one or get that far.

Based on how the clubs are run though you’d bet on the pies and then the tigers. I don’t expect to see another flag in my lifetime for Carlton. Too many teams and you need to be better run than ever before and we are not and unlikely to ever be.

It'll sound silly to say us because we're probably currently the worst of the bunch, but I feel like we've started the needed process to take us up the ladder.

Collingwood are still hanging around the finals mark, but I dont think they're winning another flag in the Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Howe, Moore era and I feel like they're going to need to lose a lot of experience to build up again.

Carlton are a complete rabble, they're about to sack the coach and they need to start again.

Essendon are probably similar to Richmond, except that I dont think their recent history favours them doing things well from a club management perspective.

I'll tentatively and biasedly say Richmond, but only if we have a good draft this year. Then we need to hit the trade and FA market to bring in a ruck and fill a few other holes.

It depends on if we'll get the next rebuild right and finally hire the correct coach etc. Sigh how depressing.😔

You are gonna need to line up 4 crystal balls for that as one cant see far enough into the future. They are all buggered for a while. Shame.

GO Catters

Pies still, I think. Even though they're probably on the downward curve, they have enough experienced talent that if they are all fit and firing, they can still make finals. Once there, funny things can happen.

Essendon and Richmond are miles off it but at least they know exactly where they are.

Carlton arguably the furthest as they still have an old list and lots of mid-aged recycled types - haven't even begun the rebuild yet.

How many rebuilds in are we with Carlton now? If the culture doesn't change neither will the outcome.

Richmond ... might happen if they get the kid/maturity matrix right and coached properly.

Collingwood... to many systemic advantages to wallow for long and good back of house bones ... will depend on how well they manage ... their transition and dont stuff their salary cap again.

Essendon... not sure they even realise there is a problem and assume they will return to their rightful place in the sun because they are Essendon... so nope.

Out of that lot its got to be Collingwood.
I have the Pies winning its next flag in 2028.
They just got to blood the next wave of kids another preseason draft and trade and right in the flag mix even as early as 2027.
All about list age profile and rebalance and they win the flag.
As with the others this is how i see it:
Next flag:
Richmond 2033
Carlton 2036
Essendon sometime in the 2040s

I think after Collingwoods 17th flag in as i said 2028 they will have a bit of a gap between its 17th and 18th flag.

Been on 16 flags as same as carlton and essendon in a way doesnt sit well with me but equal is better then been 1 behind.

But dont like sharing 16 with blues and bombers just feels not right.

But answer to this post its Collingwood wins its next flag

Tipping another interstate flag this year and maybe next year as well before it returns to a Melbourne club.

Collingwood have shown the ability to build and maintain a competitive playing list, so it has to be them.
Richmond are in the early stages of another 30 year rebuild and who knows with the other two.
