You play Cochrane in Howe's position. He won't be as effective initially, but with experience and exposure, he learns. There’s no realistically viable alternative to Howe’s position, Sidebottom’s form warrants his inclusion and Elliott is our deepest forward and playing at capacity our clear best forward. Obviously his form is average but you give someone with his talent an extended opportunity before discarding him.
It’s the aging dispensable guys and roles that need to be moved on at first opportunity. McStay, Membrey, Crisp, Lipinski. Crisp’s form clearly warrants his inclusion in the first team though.
Sidebottom's form warrants his selection? Based on what? He's an average mid at best, at the moment and not going to improve.
Elliott, in case you haven't noticed has been POOR this year and he isn't going to improve given his age.
McStay and Membrey are finished. DeGoey IMV also.
Swoop and co can spin it any way they like, but we are currently in freefall as we've gone beyond the cliff's edge.
