Autopsy Round 8, 2026: Hawks bottle it

I'm in trouble with the neighbours. Woke their baby up screaming at the television.

4 changes for next week. Meek, Webble and Finn can all go back to Box Hill. Stay a while. Stay forever! Sicily will need 2-3 weeks with that ankle.
Well, my wife who is a pies fan isn’t talking to me now. I guess I have to count tonight a win then…

Full credit to Collingwood. They outworked us and kicked everything. They definitely had the rub of the green though, particularly that no call on Watson’s tackle. Textbook HTB.

Positives: Wiz, Ginni, Croc, Newk, Reeves and Mass were good for us. Centre square dominance was nice to see. Getting two points when it looked like the Pies had it won late.

Too many passengers and some guys will be lucky to hold their spots. Will need to play about 1000% better against Freo.

Butler and another smaller defender should both be back in at a minimum. Sicily looked sore and there are quite a few others who deserve the chop

We were killed on the ground balls, particularly when marks were spilled.

Lots to work on before next week.

This game was a fair reflection of how important Cholly is. He would have taken a lot of marks tonight.

I can't say this enough... get Weddle a kicking coach, his ball drop when kicking for goal is deplorable. It can't get any worse. Recon he's in his own head now, he's going too early for everything.

As much as I hate the I50 efficiency and their game plan, there were some positives. The midfield absolutely dominated, though delivery into F50 needs work. Wiz and Croc are special players, and Frenchy is growing in confidence.

I feel like we needed more speed in the back line tonight. If Sic is out, that may be the change. Also Buttsy straight in for Finn, he gives us a lot more and has explosive pace.

Also of all the players in the comp why is it only Meek that seems incapable of adapting to the new centre bounce rules? He is still mostly fine around the ground but he is incapable of just breaking even in the middle.
He isnt actually breaking the rules. Hes contesting the ruck, but he misses the ball and it gets paid. Thats not the rule. The rule is that you cant cross the line to block or make intentional contact

Well from what I saw the balance of the side was off when we bought sis in, this happens literally every year 😂 it's not scrims fault, it's to much of a week to week change in game set up for them.

Collingwood were great with some excellent kicking.

Same old story for us we have to work so hard for a goal then opposing team gets a quick and easy Joe the goose, and now the match hangs in the balance again.

Fremantle next week, who knows how it's guna go 🤔

Bizarre game of football. We should’ve won that by 6 goals even with how atrociously we played.

We had 10 more shots on goal and double the inside 50’s. They couldn’t miss and we couldn’t score.
Bad kicking is bad football.

On the flip side we kept on coming and I like we kept trying to win the game and didn’t fold and escaped with a draw.

But really we dominated every stat and should’ve won, but also we were so sloppy we deserved to lose.

Either way I think it was a good wake up call and there will be a lot of learning. Not the worst result to escape with 2 points.

On Weddle, he is absolutely devoid of any confidence at the moment. Needs a spell.

A lot of overreaction. Collingwood is an exceptionally well organised side and well coached.

Most of us said, if the pressure rating was high, we win by a lot. Unfortunately tonight it wasn’t.

We are a much much better side. We dominated on so many levels. At this stage we are a top four side (however April is irrelevant).

This result was an absolute anomaly. No team will ever be in a position to win with the numbers Collingwood had.

Our pressure will be through the roof next week. Our game is still in order but we were just too sloppy.

Still tipping us to beat Fremantle.

KOLOKOTRONIS

Someone on SEN called the result of tonight's game a "statistical Impossibility" which is pretty close to he truth. Collingwood kicked 13 goals straight at one stage tonight that's absolutely nuts!

Mind you our poor goal kicking was going to catch up with one of these days, it was our Achilles heel for large parts of 2025 as well.

Glass half full those two points from a draw will be very handy at the end of the year so not total doom and gloom.
