this is my thinking so far:
worrell & blamires to newman & clarry? will leave me with 3 total rookies on field (2 in mid out of Murdock/rets/angry Anderson + McAndrew)

or

farrow and lombard to clarry & cumming. leaves me the same amt of rookies on field and will have a choice of Murdock/rets/AA/cumming but my fwd rookies are steene and will lewis - yuck. I guess I could go clarry/murray?

I also wouldn't mind trac or kozi but think I need to look at cheaper options until bye week, maybe sparrow or Z Bailey.

Still not sure on whether the priority this week should be

1. Getting rid of C.Serong/Rachele (either one or both).
or
2. Getting another rookie off the ground.

If getting rid of Serong and Rachele then its likely to Newman/McCluggage and Z.Bailey/MacDonald

If doing a rookie upgrade it's likely J.Serong to Newman/McCluggage (via Lombard to Murray).

EDIT: A quick points calculation suggests the rookie upgrade is the better option.

Serong (85) + Rachele (80) + Newman (90) = 255
vs
McCluggage (95) + Z.Bailey (90) + Rookie (60) = 245

I don’t really want to be paying so much for Cumming. I may bring in a red dot or a slow burn DEF to pair with Sellwood on the bench. Thinking Edwards from SYD at about 270k. If he plays he will end up maybe making 50k, if he doesn’t then it’s a cheap red dot to loop Roberts, Sinclair, and Whitfield

I would be much more inclined to move C Serong on, but I think the smart play is to at least wait til the Byes on Rachele. You’ve only gotta watch Caleb play and you soon wonder to yourself why on earth you ever picked him in the first place. He does not have a good Fantasy game.

I could go farrow & Murdock for 2 of Clug, Sparrow, Wines, Sanders (libba out for a while longer)

I ust can't with Serong any more. Brought him in after that second 120 and it's been dud city since. Cut my losses

This doesn't factor in the $$$ the rookie is likely to make you.

Already have Cumming so would either be Lombard to Murray or Grlj to someone if a DEF rookie pops up.

The other options would be both Serongs out for McCluggage and Rankine/Yeo but I think the latter two are scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of an upgrade.

Or just Lombard to Murray and then anyone for Serong under 1.087 mi.

I don't think i'm able to commit o bring in 100% known deadwood yet, but if a defender rookie gets named who is only like, an 80% chance of being deadwood, I may jump on the chance.

Will Edwards will definitely play again this week, backed up his performance against the dogs. And then will most likely compete with at least one of Melican / Hamling (currently in VFL) when Mccartin returns. He’s sub 300k

I'm still undecided on what moves to make:

Rookies to bring in:
1. T.Murray
  • will most likely get ruck DPP (not sure if that's useful)
  • has the lowest BE, but probably only scores around 50 or less
  • floor will be very low
  • will play key forward with Walker out with a hammy
  • might only be a 3 week play before he goes back to his low TOG as a backup ruck

2. D.Sharp
  • more expensive rookie
  • better JS, but will his CBAs drop when Parish returns?
  • Might have to wait on teams; if Caldwell is out, that helps Sharp's CBAs

3. S.Robey
  • more expensive than Sharp
  • had CBAs, but less than Sharp
  • If Caldwell is injured, he could be an option

Rookies to trade out:
1. Serong
  • has the most money on his head
  • North are a tough matchup for wing/defence
  • plays high TOG

2. Farrow
  • Has had 2 high scores against easy matchups and a good score against Collingwood that give up a lot of points to defenders
  • Other than easy matchups, he scores around 50ish
  • Just came off a difficult Brisbane matchup, so could bounce back
  • Redman to return could push him out of the backlines altogether - what other position does he play?

3. Grlj
  • Looks like he needs a rest, but Richmond have a huge injury list
  • Doesn't have as much money on him
  • Lower scorer than Farrow

I prefer to trade Grlj over Farrow, but both need to go and there are no good defender rookies to trade in, which means, trading them out will have to be an upgrade.

Players to trade in:
1. McCluggage
  • playing a wing role with 50% CBAs
  • TOG is still lower than last year as are CBAs
  • probably only a 90-105 kind of player, so is still underpriced
  • has a very high ceiling
  • has potential to be tagged

2. Newman
  • missed the juicy St Kilda matchup
  • has the toughest matchup for defenders; Brisbane don't allow a lot of mark/kicks back there
  • is the main kick in guy
  • i'm expecting a 80ish score, but low BE 58
  • has a good bye (14)

3. B.Dale
  • been scoring 100s, but only since Budarick has been out
  • Budarick is expected to be back this week or next
  • more expensive than Newman
  • better run coming up
  • better scorer than Newman as he plays for a better team

If I get McCluggage, I will have to trade out Jagga, who has a lower BE but has a tough Brisbane matchup.
If I get Newman, I will trade out Farrow (if I get Sharp with the other trade)
If I get Newman, I will trade out Grlj (if I get T.Murray with the other trade)
I prefer to trade Grlj, but I prefer to get Sharp.

Looking for bargains this week

Scottish suitcase and Bergman in for Jagga and Farrow

Means I'm still holding onto a guy like Windhager but he'll be better than fielding a rookie (I hope)

Getting JHF last week over a cheaper Zac Bailey was silly, but I'm banking on the Power's upcoming schedule.

List of bargain buys with high risk:
Bergman, Yeo, RoMa, Rankine

I got Edwards last week - let’s face it though, he’s gonna average 30-40. At that scoring rate he is barely gonna make money and will be more valuable as a red dot to loop tbh.

ROMA and Bergman until both are rested when the teams drop.

Bergman is looking like he is finally over whatever ailments hampered him in pre-season. I'm hoping for a 75-85 average - enough to get him within reach of a true premo when the time comes.

bit of a gamble ,only one decent score all year

I would normally hate paying 397 for a rookie but I just don’t see any other better options.

Murray/Edwards are both likely slow burns, Murray is more tempting but already over 300k.

What rookies would you culll out of
Serong, jagga, carroll, farrow?
