State of umpiring

They did get it right. How else do they bring Sydney back into the contest without making some momentum sapping howlers.

If today is the standard, surely we can drag someone from a local pub 15 minutes before game time to umpire. They couldn’t be any worse.

These are paid professionals, let that sink in. Paid to be incompetent. What a gig!
Apparently the solution is to pay them more…..

I think we should have 6 of them just so they can all stand around like a stale bottle of piss and do nothing when the obvious howler is let go. 20-30k of people 100 metres away from the play can all see the obvious but 4 ********* literally metres away still can’t see the obvious.

Literally a pink dildo has more use on an AFL ground than the current spuds the AFL rolls out week after week.

My solution is to fire them into the sun.

I think we should introduce ARC style umpiring but make a bloke at the pub calling in his decisions by earpiece.

We can have one of the dildos stand on the ground and blow their whistle when someone who is half cut makes better decisions.

Today was about as angry as I've seen the North home crowd.

The fact we ended up with a "bullshit! bullshit!" chant says it all.

**** the feelings of the umpires.

There are at least 8-10 who have no place at AFL level. Shit like this is going to continue to decide games of football because its simply not good enough.

The issue is see is the AFL has made the rules so complicated.
The basis rules of in the back, dropping and holding the ball just don't get paid.
A player knocks the ball out in a tackle and gets rewarded.
Ruckman cross the centre line and it's a free kick.
I don't think any game has ever had so many rules changes.

They’ve made them complicated by trying to have a justification for anything that suits them. And they like it.

So the umpires don't look at the big screen when they make their decision on a call... Maybe they should start to, so they can see if it was the right call and if not change their decision.

The funny part about the flogs commentating on the foxsports version/footage/post about he let go. Yes, he let go, because Heeney dropped the f-ing ball after being tackled.

Heeney, just needs to be within a couple of strides of the opposition ball carrier to get a whistle...."yep good enough for me Isaac, good try, holding the ball"....."yep Isaac, he got the handball away but good enough, dropping the ball, Isaac Heeney Free"......VS Heeney tackled, brought to ground with the ball hitting the deck, "....good effort Isaac, play on, play on"...Heeney throwing the ball....."play on, play on, it's Isaac Heeney, grew up playing rugby, yep clean disposal play on".

another to add, comben gets a scuffed kicked away in the defensive goal square yet called for htb even though it clearly hit his foot. Clarko is right we had our chances to win the game, but the decisions were asbsolutley blatant bias to sydney all game. how many did they get in their 50 compared to us. that prick fisher especially every time.

Yes. Players have to let go because these numpty umps pay holding the man free kicks like candy in exactly these situations.

At least we can console ourselves with the fact that if the Swans do make the Grand Final on the back of favourable umpiring, draw, academies, tribunal decisions etc, they'll most likely get their arses handed to them again as it's the one game of the year that the umps put the whistle away.

Apart from the very well documented non holding the ball's, unseen blatant throws, and running 15m+ without a bounce, the very worst non decision that keeps replaying in my mind, was when Paul Curtis was tackled and ridden into the ground with a swans player on his back all the way from perpendicular to horizontal for nada

It’s a corrupt competition. It just makes our rebuild that much harder when the 50-50s are guaranteed to go against us.

Yesterday was on another level though, too many instances to name of deliberate decision/non decision making that favoured one side. Corruption.
