Most of those in the last quarter and a bit when game was done
Yeah, he's kicking them though, but at the end of the chain I guess.

On another note, I like the GWS player, Ough. Sounds like the commentators are calling tough contests, 'Oww'.

Given his first name is Jack, I'm okay with it

A good win - played smart footy in the windy conditions - first options - lowered the eyes - worked hard for each other

We win 114-63 - second half domination 11 goals to 2

Binns - 29 touches & 6 clearances - FOOTY SMART - always chooses best option - works hard both ways = BOG
Tsatas 33 & 5 clearances - not a great tackler - pokes & floats kicks need more punch and split the air with some force
Setters 26 & 5 clearances - was very good without being spectacular
Gerryn 21 and 11 marks looked way more confident down back and kicking than McKay
Gresh 20 and 4 goals - mostly in the second half when the game was done and dusted
Vigo - 13 touches & 31 hit outs - i like the boy as he prefers to kick - tapwork great albeit against lower oppositon
Huss kicked 3 goals - making it 10 goals from his last 3 games
Jonesy had 2.2 from 19 touches but not that impressive IMO
Cillian Bourke the Irish kid has improved a fair bit since the start of the pre season - a real project in progress

Liked him in his draft year and made a mental note to watch his progress. First I’ve heard about him since though ough ough ough ough ough ough ough ough. Sorry, caught a bit trough ough ough ough ough ough

His second goal put us in front at the start of the third quarter then his third was the next one that put us 10 points up.

Essendon listed only;

Elijah Tsatas (29 disposals, 6 marks, 3 tackles, 5 clearances, 1 goal, 5 Inside 50s, 7 rebound 50s)
Wasn't as dominant as he has been, got lots of it again but we know thats his game. Little hurt factor outside a goal and a couple of clean clearances.

Will Setterfield (26 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles, 1 clearance, 3 Inside 50s, 2 Rebound 50s)
weird game from Setterfield. Numbers maybe flattered him but he did get some easy ball through the middle. Not dominant but effective enough.

Kayle Gerryn (21 disposals (15k, 6hb, 11 marks, 6 Rebound 50s)
Dont be confused with his disposal count, a very Archie Roberts at AFL level game. A lot of sea gulling across half back from the big boy who went off after a heavy collision late in the game.

Jade Gresham (20 disposals, 3 tackles, 4 goals, 1 behind)
One thing he does do well is take chances and today he did that well. 3 of his 4 were opportunisitc chances at goal. Liked it.
Can see him being in contention after a game like today

Harry Jones (18 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 2 goals, 2 behinds,5 Inside 50s)
A typical Jones game. Kicked 2, could have had 3 if not 4. Good to get some runs in the legs.

Matt Guelfi (16 disposals, 6 marks, 0 tackles - bullshit?!)
Tackle count obviously not impressive but he did put deffensive pressure on and was our best in the first quarter imho. Faded out as the big guns took over.

Ben McKay (15 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles, 7 intercepts)
Solid enough without dominating. Played in defence all game

Max Kondogiannis (15 possessions, 2 marks, 3 Inside 5s, 3 Round 50s)
Was ok, didnt do anything too outstanding. Was entrusted with some kicking in duties

Tom Edwards (13 possessions, 6 marks including a screamer on centre wing, 2 tackles, 2 goals, 1 behind, 3 Insie 50s)
Played a weird game. Had some small passages where youre taken aback and then dont see him for 20 minutes but then the next 5 he kicks a goal and sets another up. The screamer was a ripper and something I didnt think he had in him.

Vigo Visentini (13 possessions, 6 marks, 31 hitouts, 4 Inside 50s)
Im a huge fan of Vigo. Love that he throws his weight around but more importantly loves to get involved. The Giants kid on debut was huge and very combative to break even. Another week under Vigo's belt is great.

Cillian Bourke (12 possessions 2 marks, 5 intercepts, 4 Rebound 50s, 2 Inside 50s)
First time seeing him play properly and he was very good. Laced one kick that got to its target quickly that made me sit up and go "wow". Obviously going to develop quickly but unsure where Id like to settle him. Half back?

Hussein El~Achkar (11 possessions, 2 marks, 1 tackle, 3 goals, 1 behind)
I didnt realise he was playing until later in the third quarter when he kicked his first goal. We know he can sniff a goal out but my big watch with him is his fitness to influence games for longer and the deffensive intent to continue to improve. Looked to move well enough after hip corky from last week

Liam McMahon (4 possessions, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal)
Dirty day that ended in the 3rd quarter for the big key forward.

Overall, got the job done against a undermanned opponent (Giants had 7 AFL listers compared to our 13). Bad kicking early from them hurt and we capitalised still being in it at half time.

appreciate the correction ant555 but I expected more from Gresh - perhaps a little harsh my end but he has played 180+ games
Thought he played okay but the reality is we need to move on from him and for a small he is not quick.

he usually is, looks like he is getting comfortable at the level and trying more difficult kicks &/or getting lazy with his distribution
His kicking efficiency is not great.

3QT - a 7 goals to 0 quarter sees us up 87-46

NOTE we have 12-13 AFL listed players - GWS decimated by injury only have about 6

Tsatas 24
Setterfield 19
Jones 18 and 2.2
Gerryn 20 and 11 marks
Binns 23 IMO BOG so far and deserves a spot on a list next year - smart decision maker and FOOTY IQ
Is Binns quick? I know he's an endurance beast but has he got any toe?

Binns was second in the agility test and third in the two-kilometre time trial at the draft combine, with elite running capacity and being a good option for his teammates (work rate).

Didn't get much of a run at Carlton (as they had a plethora of smaller forwards/wingers)

Deserves a second chance somewhere IMO

hes a butcher of the ball, we dont need any more of them

Very harsh, I'm no fan but he was definitely best on for us

My assessment of the AFL listers (plus a couple of VFL players):

#5 Elijah Tsatas: Racked up the clearances and disposals but was jogging on transition a couple of times frustratingly.

#11 Jade Gresham: Was clearly our best player of the AFL listed ones, he worked hard, was creative ball in hand and kicked 4, 3 of which were very important when the game was on.

#12 Will Setterfield: Think the stats flattered him tbh. A couple of lazy one armed tackles and sold himself and others into trouble a few times.

#17 Vigo Visentini: Was getting beaten early but worked into the game and was very important in the second half.

#19 Kayle Gerreyn: Didn't see the incident where he went off but hopefully nothing serious. Callum Brown got him on the lead more than once frustratingly.

#23 Harrison Jones: Did what he had to do inside 50, presented well and should have kicked at least one more than his brace.

#29 Max Kondogiannis: He's a lovely kick of the ball and we really should be using him more often for handball receives to break the game open.

#32 Ben McKay: Was solid without being dominant, think a few more weeks in the VFL could be good for him, although unfortunately we have a bye next week.

#33 Hussein El Achkar: Pressure was good despite only one tackle, was clever around goals too. Long term prospect

#35 Matt Guelfi: Unfortunately as cooked as a well done steak. Should be cut end of the year.

#39 Cillian Burke: First time I've seen him but the kid can move and his kicking is very nice to watch, think he settles in defence.

#45 Tom Edwards: Took an absolute screamer as mentioned, but thought he wasn't as good as he could have been IMO, though 2 nice goals.

#48 Liam McMahon: Yeah, looks like an ankle injury frustratingly, if he's out a while I suspect this'll be his last year on the list.

Win !

Personally I've seen enough of Jones as a forward and Gerreyn as a defender. I'd rather they switched them to see if if Jones has any hope of reviving his career down back or if Gerreyn can be the forward he was drafted as. At the current rate neither of them will be with us next year anyway.

Rate this. Jones has all the necessary tools to be CHB
