Trainor worries me. Not sure if he is lacking in confidence, but whenever he gets the ball im worried where it's going to go.

8 turnovers from 12 disposals. Went at 50% DE

Needs to get stronger in the core. And put some size on.

If you rewatch Rances first few years you won’t worry as much about Trainor. I think he might be overconfident with his disposal at times, makes aggressive decisions.

Ultra-defensive gameplan today. 10 fewer tackles with 80 fewer disposals because our players were peeling off and guarding space. We went slow and wide from D50 all day as well. My guess is Yze was basically aiming for this result - not a blowout even though we had no chance of winning.

Also before everyone blames injuries - we were mostly destroyed in the midfield not at either end. And we had TT, Hopper and Ross playing, probably our 3 first-picked midfielders. Obviously Nank would have helped a lot.

Sorry you mentioned Green can u give us his stats and also his lack of tackles
He is a liability no forward pressure at all
I thought his work around the ground was good, not Campbell level, but was a decent link man.

You’re correct though, there was zero forward 50 pressure. Always looks like we play with zero smalls because they’re never at the fall of the ball.

He doesn’t worry me, his best is phenomenal but when he makes mistakes his whole game falls apart. It’s either a really really good game or a really really bad game.

Compare that to Grlj who might be down one week but he’s not a liability. This is why I think he’s on a short leash from the coaches cos his bad games seem from him being rash and over confident more than anything.
If we had a smart coach I'd move Grilj fwd.1st year in our defence has worn him down.
Give the kid a spell

Smashed in all stats with an undermanned team. The defence deserves credit for keeping the margin down (-9 points after quarter time).

Miller 22 disposals 4 tackles 407MG 91% DE
Trezise 24 disposals 2 tackles 1 clearance 245MG
Vlastuin 21 disposals 11IP 91% DE
Broad 12 disposals 5IP 92% DE
Short 25 disposals 356MG 100% DE
Grlj 17 disposals 388MG 1GA 77% DE
dogged trezise by excluding his DE when it was 87%!

also good to see him up his metres gained and retain his DE% (was on 23 metres gained at half time with 14 disposals)

you teach the same gameplan to the entire squad and tweak it here and there and must have plan b. letting them get so many uncontested possessions is a joke
incorrect, a proper structured game plan for 25 games is not viable when at least half the players have only played 10 games or less with each other with 0, 1, 2 preseasons completed and with 5 or 6 of your best chess pieces sitting in the grandstand. it becomes a weekly work in progress and Adem and the boys are doing tremendously well.

I made a note of it in the game day thread, we were losing the inside 50 count by like 20-3 early on and St Kilda weren't putting us to the sword despite how many we had out - we even had a player get injured and still only lost by 36 while getting to see a lot more of players that are only getting games due to our injury crisis. I reckon we'll be okay.

Roast: Not the first time, but can someone explain how these Saints nuffies always seem chirpy to oppo supporters at the ground? It's so easy to remind them of their lack of success. Baffling!
Always remind me of the knight in Monty pythons the holy grail who gets chopped to pieces and still gobs off

i get the injuries but seriously what is our coaching panel and yze doing? uncontested possessions. no system from kick ins.
Let’s move Gray forward and Nank in the ruck. Or how about we try Gibcus fwd? Oh wait, we can’t. His hands are tied.

Phenomenal??

My God, it’s a very low bar we are setting these days….

I said it in the game day thread but this bloke is the classic Richmondy pick. An inbetweener without a standout trait. Not quick. Not strong. Not explosive. Not a huge leap. He’s an upmarket Patrick Bowden.
