Alistair Clarkson says hi....

Clarkson hasn’t been at Roos for 6 completed seasons. And his first was destroyed with the racism sham. Plus he has lots of finals wins and flags on the CV. He’s a terrible attempt at an example.

The only proviso on that is a recycled coach would not be taking over a side that they have to rebuild - we have done the rebuild, we have the players, we just need the finish touches.

Clarko took over one of the worst performing sides in the history of the game.

There are many here who get more delight in the Crows losing .......however we shouldn't put much credence in their judgements given those leanings
You’re talking about the people who actually crave a flag the most.

There is no metric used to sack Nicks that would pass any sort of test in AFL circles.

It would signal to any coach that you can win 72% of games 1 year. Lose some finals because a suspension and media fall out put the team into disarray. Then you rock up next preseason and cop some injuries, a broken bone, 7 hammys and 2 crook backs to the 2 KPFs and struggle in the first 8 rounds and fans get shitty and you'll lose your job.

Absolutely no serious gun coach is going to apply for the job and we end up with a shit coach stupider than the current.

He would have to miss finals with a full list Sanderson style to get the sack.

People have already pegged their stake and every little thing is a sackable offence. It isn't going to happen.
60.87% of our games are at Adelaide oval now.

50% of those wins were against the bottom six.

The minor round is, minor. And even more so than ever before.

I'm sure Kane McGoodwin is praying for the day he'll finally be right .....after all, he lied continuously about not going to the footy again until Nicks was gone ..... these sort of comments is up there with burning membership cards, so they're crackpots

Of course every Coach will eventually get sacked .....but it ain't happening this year ....Nicks has built this list, attracted good trade-in players, who judge the coach as much as any offer

When Nicks fails to maximise performances based on the list available to him ....then, like any Coach, he'll be in trouble

These poor judges, criticise for not having a plan "B" .....but when we modify our gamestyle, they carry on about not playing the same way all the time
Maybe they should listen to Coaches & Players who in the last week, have talked about constantly adjusting gamestyles
Show me where I have got more delight from losing?

I hate losing & we have a loser coach who is incapable of taking us to a flag.

Meanwhile you celebrate mediocrity.

Not only are you the biggest clown on this board, you lack awareness to realise hardly anyone takes your posing seriously.

Most prefer it where you stick to your games board...

If we don't win a final this year....he is gone. He knows it. You know it. There is no way he coaches next year if we a) fail to make finals and b) fail to win AT LEAST one final.

Wayne thought the Richmond win was good, enough said, winning premierships isn’t his aim

Right - so not a 'very young side.'

What was his exact quote? I would not categorise the Adelaide teams this year as very young.

Round 7 average games:

Brisbane 123
Adelaide 87

For the season, Adelaide are 13th for experience. Only West Coast, Richmond, Essendon, Power and Bulldogs are the teams who have had lower average games per player.

I'm firmly of the belief it should be obvious a coach is premiership material within 4 season. No premiership coach in recent history has ever gone longer than that without showing something
Some consideration needs to be made for list quality but I think club administrators should be able to spot a lack of strategic nous way sooner than 4 years.

Berry on AA saying we were able to go faster because we were playing in the front half due to our contest dominance, but if you don't have that and have to play from the back you can't play as fast and 'need to build the ball up'.

I'm not sure there's been much of a game plan change just yet. Sounds like we will still go slow from defence. The test will be when we don't dominate contest and field position, will the dare and attacking handballs stop again?
The answer sadly is yes. Under pressure, we will revert to the most drilled gameplan. Just like we always do in the last quarter when we get 20 points up and decide to try and save the game.

Thats nearly the equivalent of two whole seasons - a big difference.

AI agrees with you! An exception is of course Damien Hardwick who currently holds the record with his first premiership with Richmond in his 8th season (appointed 2010, won in 2017 ). Matthew Nicks is currently in his 7th season so.....

So far in '26,

1. Collingwood 149 games
2. Brisbane 126 games
3. Sydney 124 games
4. Geelong 120 games
5. Hawthorn 111 games

13. Adelaide 92 games

Getting Walker, Ah Chee and Butts in the team should help bump it up a bit.

But Hardwick had made finals in 2013 (4th season), 2014 (5th season) and 2015 (6th season) as coach. He took over a team that had finished 17th with 5 wins in 2009 (before his first season in 2010).

Unfortunately, no real comparison to Nicks.

I included Butts because in my mind Borlase comes out if he goes in (forgetting they both played against North). Whoever comes out for Walker is less experienced and same with Ah Chee (unless ANB came out).

Hinge has 90 games, not sure if he moves the needle much for experience. Potentially could hurt the average if when he comes in it's for an injured Cumming or Laird for example.

could it be argued that in his 4th year, after a massive rebuild, nicks had the most, or close to, best winning % against top 4 teams (iirc) and that was DESPITE losing 4 very close games to the top 4 inc some under very controversial circumstances plus the ultimate keays-gate issue vs 8th placed swannies:

Pies (inc 1 away) - 1 and 2 points (dawson-gate)
Dees (away)- 4 points (rankine-gate?)
Lions (away) - 6 points (umpiring-gate)

plus 8th placed Swans - 1 point (keays-gate)
