    Ah Um is his 'classic'... A lot of very nice stuff, I love the bass line he offers... He isn't too extroverted in that he isn't often the focus of a song, but half of them would fall apart without them... Is that the only Mingus you got? Just wondering... Yes it is the only one but I will be looking at the other album you mentioned.

    Been cranking Frank Zappa all day as well... Hot Rats is gold...
    I had years back Just Another Band From LA and Over-nite Sensation both on vinyl but they are long gone. I am not a fan of Zappa per se but don't dislike him either. I have read his bio and also have a mate who has every album. He is a fanatic. I reckon that I might get into him a bit more one day.

    You heard of The Necks? Been given a live album of theirs... An Aussie Jazz piano trio. Will give it a listen and the write a review up on Banter. I have high hopes (Simple becuase I trust my mates taste so much :p)

    Not heard of Helios or Kashiwa Daisuke but I will check them out. Ah Um is a great album. I have played it 3 times in 24 hours. Thanks for putting me onto him. How good is his playing!!

    I rate it. It has a sense of function and discipline. Threads are kept clean and they like you to bump threads if they are already started on a subject. I love the reader. I know that that it a touch high brow but it is more up my alley. But the I always had fantasy's about being a music critic:eek:.

    I have bought so much music over the years, and still do, that I have no issue with trying before I buy via D/L. (Jeff Martin brought back bad memories of money badly spent ouch!.) I do end up always getting the music that I like as there is something about not only owning the cover art etc etc but doing the right thing by the artiste. Beirut is a prime example as after a couple of listens I was straight down to he shop on the Saturday buying both records.

    Lol. I will try not wear them out. Have to admit that I am very impressed though. I have not only bought a couple of albums but d/led 23 others to keep me keen.

    have always impressed my inbuilt sense of chaos. I have even got my wife playing them and coming along to the gig. I do control her iPod fascist so she had no choice music dictator that I am ha ha.

    I have to admit to playing a fair bit of Giant Sands and Willard Grant Conspiracy. I am a bit addicted but last night I gave an old fav Chris Knox a massive play.

    I bought an album by Jeff Martin ex of The Tea Party a couple of weeks back as a friend wanted me to go and see him so I grabbed his first solo on speculation. One word sums it up. Appalling.

    The 'tackle' but the whole game was edge of the seat stuff. Just one of those kinds of games. And the early game tomorrow is 3am EST, then there's a talk show around 630am EST, and then the next game is 10am EST.
