Former North Melbourne star Majak Daw has joined Melbourne lord mayoral candidate Nick Russian’s “Bring Back Melbourne” team.
“I really want to make a change in this country and be that bridge between my culture and the Australian culture,” Daw said. “I’m extremely passionate about community projects … and I’m not afraid to voice my opinion on certain things.”
Nightclub king and entrepreneur Russian is running for lord mayor in this month’s City of Melbourne elections.
Mr Russian introduced Daw is a member of his team late on Wednesday.
“Our innovation and leadership team covers everyone that makes up Melbourne’s wider community,” Mr Russian said. “Meet Majak Daw, a key member of our Bring Back Melbourne team.”
In a promotional video for Mr Russian’s campaign, Daw, whose family moved to Australia from war-torn South Sudan as refugees, spoke about the challenges faced by migrants.

He also shared a message to the Sudanese community in his native language, saying: “We are going to bring back Melbourne. Hang in there.”
Daw’s move into local politics follows his recent delisting by North Melbourne.
His return to the AFL this year after his horrific injuries following a fall from the Bolte Bridge in late 2018 was the most inspirational stories of the season.

Oh god no!

The parasites have got in his head and polluted him.

Mods, can we trim this crap from this thread and have it placed in the past players forum?

I queried the intelligence of Majak chasing the AFL dragon to the bitter end after he finished with us.

Falling in with this motley crew of imps and dickheads wasn’t quite what I’d have imagined as an alternative.

He'll just get used up & spat out.

The other election that mattered. Russian/Majak got nowhere near it but still got 10% of the vote.

Can we now put the pitchforks down and the fires out?

Hopefully Majak undergoes arthroscopes for both his knee and his cerebellum over summer.

Just take a look through his thread.

Really hope he has strong smart family and friends around him to keep his head straight.

Fingers crossed not getting back on a list is the first hidden blessing. Hoping he can catch up mentally on the last 10 whirlwind years away from the spotlight.

Opportunities for him KC to be a leader of his community ( if not already ) and really become something besides " Maj the footballer "

I’d like the club to offer him a permanent role in the Huddle or something. I reckon he would be a valuable asset and it would be nice if they could support him in a tough time. I’m sure they are already do, but in a way that gives him some direction career wise.
I think Majaks relationship with the club is mutually beneficial.
In the sense that Arden St has been a good home for him and he’s worth keeping around as a fan favourite.

Sign him up to the VFL team and get him into a development role.
Like Boomer, McMillan and Hrovat he’s worth keeping around.
Hope we pick up the phone to Spud next year aswell.

If not picked up by any other AFL club would be ideal in some sort of on field role in our VFL side then maybe a role within the Huddle at North.
But in saying that the club will need to do something about it if they want him.
Beat me to it. You know he would be an inspiration to all the young dudes in the gym.
