Micky Martyn had a football brain the size of a peanut yet somehow was a successful fullback, can"t see how Daw has less potential ?

You forgot someone. His name is Lachie Hansen! Daw has to be a ruckman and key forward

Lachie Hansen is better suited in playing the third tall as opposed to playing on the last line of defence as Nifty Nevbuster mentioned. :stern look

Mick Martyn kicked 100 goals at FF in the juniors and was a lot smarter than you think.

Summary
The man with the biggest hype without actually playing a senior game finally delivered what the AFL world has been waiting for since he was drafted as a rookie at the end of 2009, making his senior debut. He had fans buzzing in the pre-season with a classy goal on the run after giving the don't-argue to Richmond's Steven Morris. His first official game came in Round 4 against the Brisbane Lions, and he had both North Melbourne and Brisbane fans cheering within the first minute after a superb pack mark and a goal to kick things off. However, his stardom wouldn't last very long, subbed out in the first quarter after being concussed in a tackle. He recovered to play the next five games, with his Round 7 performance against the Western Bulldogs one of the more dominant displays of the year. Against an under-siege Bulldogs' defence, Daw ran riot, taking eight marks, collecting 18 disposals, laying four tackles and booting 6.4 to collect three Brownlow Medal votes.

This performance had all AFL fans talking, and somewhat appropriately it led into the Round 8 clash against the West Coast Eagles on a Friday night, a game in which Daw and Nic Naitanui would go head-to-head. Daw struggled to have an impact, and a week later he was subbed out at three quarter time against the Crows with just two handballs to his name. He went back to the VFL after this, starring for Werribee, including a standout game against the Casey Scorpions in which he amassed 21 possessions, took five marks, won 41 hitouts and kicked a goal. His year ended early with his knee requiring a PCL reconstruction, and will be fighting an uphill battle to be fit for Round 1 next season, but it looms as a make or break year for Majak, as he has shown he has the ability to compete at AFL standards.

A really exciting debut for Majak and NM people unfortunately cut short with that concussion (damn you Merrett!). Absolutely dominated the game against the Doggies then he seemed to run out of puff. I hope he recovers well from his surgery and it doesn't impact too much on his fitness development.

He's got a loooong way to go before he becomes an AFL player.

Scott basically had no choice to play him deep forward, cos he was a liability anywhere else on the ground - and that kinda stuffed up our forward setups. He was good in the ruck, but when rucking as soon as the tap occurred he had no idea where he should be. And playing him deep forward meant he lived and died on his ability to beat his man - which was fine against the Dogs' kids, or even the Hawks not-so-big defenders (other than Lake who was against Petrie IIRC), but against Glass and Truck it was an awful, awful sight to watch. Those blokes just destroyed him. I daresay that if he hadn't got concussed against Brisbane, Merrett would have figured out how to play him as the game went on, he's a good defender.

Man, I would love him to become AFL ready. But he's got to get his tank up to scratch, sort out his body position in marking contests and not just rely on his prodigious leap, and have the penny drop in terms of where to run to. When that happens...well, look out.

But gee, isn't he a highlight reel? Amongst other awesome Maj moments, the don't argue, the first mark and goal, the NicNat tap, the Dogs demolition - my favorite was one that probably got missed a little - down at Kardinia Park in the NAB Cup, he was the sole forward between 2 Cats defenders, with the ball coming in high and hard....and Maj just jumped higher than both (and more than a little sideways as well) and clamped the mark while getting slammed from either side. Jaysus. There are very few players who could have held that. Just awesome.
