By best defence i take it you mean, the best team at retaining possession with useless chips across half back so teams don't score a lot against us, though we can't stop teams when they have the ball? Points per game doesn't mean much without taking into account possession time. Your team is built on the useless half back chipping game because you can't get into a shootout because your forward line is terrible.

I doubt anyone rates you guys as having a good defence when the chips are down.

Ha ha ha ha.... have a sob. Essendon has one of the best defensive units in the game, and Fletcher is a big part of that.

Correct - the final really highlighted this. They lost a 33 point lead in 5 minutes. Their backline crumbles quicker than most. Great defences don't crumble.

Dustin Fletcher under rated


Mark Baguley and Joel Patful are two that I can think of who are under rated.

Shane Edwards is one from us who is doesn't get noticed as much, but he's a very good mid/fwd.

We had literally 4 blokes over 190cm that day. That invalidates your idiotic opinion. We also held Port Adelaide to 40 points less than their season average, and 46 their average score at the Adelaide Oval. We also held Hawthorn to 21 points less than their average score. That's the 2 best offensive sides in the AFL.

Again. These scores have less to do with the quality of your defenders, and more to do with the fact you play keepy off without going anywhere. You averaged the second most touches of any team, and were clearly first in marks per game. Teams are happy to let you soak up time like that because you aren't hurting anyone, even if it does deflate the scores.

Overrated if anything. Champion and will probably be regarded as up there with the best of all time no doubt but I've heard some people talk him up like it was still the 90s and early 2000s'.
