I've said this before but I can't help think that we've played him out of position for all these years. He was a midfielder in the juniors and I reckon he has the pace, endurance, marking ability and skill (apart from the occasional kick) to be a solid winger.

I look at it this way, which of the prelim teams of 2025 would LMAC get a game with. Hawthorn? nup Geelong? nup. Brisbane? nup and Collingwood? nup.

In fact the only teams I could see LMac get a game for is Richmond, West Coast, Carlton and Essendon and they're all just as shit as us. Time to raise the bar across half back.

How many other premiership teams would Ian Fairley or Glenn Freeborn got a game in? Yet they're premiership players. Champion teams need good role players too.

This notion of B graders or even 1 or 2 C graders not being good enough to play in a premiership team is lunacy.

And the talent pool is stretched even further these days with 2 extra teams.

Freeborn, Clayton, Motlop were all actually handy players though. Never saw Fairley as he retired before my time. Clayton copped a lot of shit from our supporters but he was very good at getting away from his opponent and finding space alone.

LMac has been either useless or actively harmful to the team for 80% of his career.

I agree, one of his better years was his one and only season on a wing. He also looked good as a defensive mid the 2 or 3 times he’s been asked to do it. This is way back though, under Scott I think.

Every team has role players. If he had the players around him that the following players do, he could at least match their output.

Brisbane - Ryan Lester
Geelong - Zach Guthrie
Hawthorn - Jack Scrimshaw
Collingwood - Harry Perryman.

We don’t need him to be a world beater, just need him and Hards to play a more defensive role so that we can let FOS and Kerch attack.

Did a very good job as a tagger in his junior year. Always felt Brad missed a trick, but I guess he was pretty dependalbe down back. Always wondered how he would go further up the ground, might have released the shackles mentally.
