Peak and Harper, Zantuck and Milne...

May as well continue the clean out.

Listening to Harper is like listening to a self-help book. Boring as bat s***

Should have kept Hillier - they could do with some radio pros.

Hillier is probably the first change/firing that I haven't really been able to see the logic behind. I'd imagine he's only there casually, but he was such a pro, and such an easy listen on the weekend. It was always good hopping in the car and hearing that he was on.

Knew how to be entertaining without resorting to gimmicks (i.e Peak's shouting for no reason and general dickishness)

For better or worse - even these last few pages show how divisive he was. In life most tend to end up tuning out or avoiding people who regularly “lose it”, as many have described here. For those bemoaning the changes - maybe you need to crowdsource to buy a radio licence and call it BigfootyFM. Bet that would get about the same ratings as SEN in 2017!

Crocmedia never bought in to keep things the same when ratings were so woeful, so this is no shock and having no contract would have made it an even easier decision.

Willing to bet Off the Bench will keep Viney falling off his chair in their promo though!

Please, please, please make Craig Harper next.
That man is unlistenable.
How much more do you think the ratings can increase?

Craig Harper is the biggest w***er I've ever had the displeasure of listening to, literally never come across someone as full of themselves as he is.

Ultimately, the ratings are going to pretty much stay the same on these programs - there will be some untapped sports that may not be covered regularly but it is sensations and scandals that pull extra listeners in and they only have a finite span. So come on Dons and Sainters, get to it.

i am not so sure he cares if the ratings increase, just would care that the demographic changes to a younger listener group and so he can get better advertisers aimed at younger people.
Targeting younger demographic? I think not.

Having two of the oldest living blokes on earth hosting the DRIVE SLOT is the least obvious target at a younger demographic I've seen; especially when the drive slot is the most popular part of the day for lazy youngsters who sleep late, wake up late and thus don't listen to the breakfast slot. I would know, I'm in this bracket.

Young people wouldn't have a clue who Dr. Turf is. He's from a previous generation and comes from a sport (horse racing) which isn't amongst the "new age" of sport in Australia (ie. EPL, NBA, NFL and obviously still footy and cricket). As far as KB is concerned, every footy fan in Victoria knows who he is but people under 35 won't be tearing to their radios to hear some gas-bagging old white man's opinions.

No, putting KB and Dr. Turf in the drive slot is the furthest thing from aiming at young people. This is purposely aiming at older people, because old people still listen to AM radio and still have time for guys like KB and Turfy because they're familiar with them. The young generation listen to FM radio, Billy Brownless and JB (who, imo, own the young sport radio demographic) or are listening to podcasts.

I'm in my 20s and have spent the last three days at the Aus Open. In that time, wondering through the maze of outside courts, I had my headphones in my ears and was listening to a variety of sports podcasts. Not once did I even consider to flick on SEN to get sports updates/discussion.

So why bother

Agreed on Turf. Shocking choice. SO out of touch and irrelevant. Lives in 1972 stylistically on the radio. Simply awful. and UNFUNNY!

A lot of people on here hating on Horse Racing - I am of the opinion that Tennis is a crap sport. I'd much rather watch a 3 horse 3,000m Maiden at Dalby than watch a game of tennis.

Why the hell does the crowd have to be silent? Has a game of tennis ever been played where the crowd can be loud? Who's to say that the sport would not improve as a spectacle if the crowd could make noise during a point?
Tennis Crap. Horse Racing is Crap. American sports are a total bore.
Sue me.

Lyon has some weird fascination with "leadership" in sport and finds it the most important and engaging topic ever.

Unfortunately he feels the need to make a segment about it every ******* week for a whole year, or just insert it into the conversation, "You know im big on leadership in footy....."

It's easily the most boring topic he covers and he bring it up at least once a day.
I have been noticing this. He either has some weird thing going on with this, or just dosent know what the hell to talk about.

Apparently Hutchy started croc in 2006

After Hutch left aw in 2007 he obviously saw an opportunity in 2008 at sen to grow his company and bought the overnights rights from them when they were have financial trouble at the station back then.
Didn't Hutchy get into alot of shit because he wasn't paying the overnight staff???

As a big cricket fan, am delighted that Hogg is gone. Was embarrassingly lazy and limited in his commentary and - as others have said - that he was their cricket 'expert' is just one of the examples of how pitifully the station has treated cricket since its inception.

SEN should be an automatic go-to station for cricket fans in summer but with dolts like Hogg over the years and footy types giving their limited views on cricket, I never bother.

After Hutch left aw in 2007...
From memory, he was fired. Something he can thank Dwayne Russell and Scott Cummings for after a particularly bad broadcast of a Carlton v Port game.

Can you remember what was so bad about it?
Somehow (considering the era), we were thrashing Port and Dwayne & Scott being solid Port supporters just took the piss all day rather than commentate. I imagine there were many complaints that day. Hutchy was gone that week.
