Not super surprised, there was rumours that Fox were going to call all 9 games starting next year and getting Huddo for Friday nights would be the first step in doing so. Watch this space......

“There are few that have played a bigger role and contributed as much to SEN as Anthony has, particularly in the early days where his behind the scenes work was critical to SEN’s survival,” Hutchison said.

Survival? was SEN on its deathbed?

Would make sense for Fox to do that as they have their own calls for NRL, although surprising it’s taken this long for them (Fox Footy) to be able to do it

Amen!

It almost went under about a year in. Pacific Star then took over the whole operation. A few people went unpaid during that time.

In 2006, Huddo and Dermie were the original Drive Show (4pm - 7pm), but they expanded too quickly (SEN SA v1) and didn't have enough money coming in. Huddo stayed around whilst Dermie dipped for a while before coming back.

It says he is quitting the station so I think I know the answer but I presume that means he isnt calling Cricket for SEN over summer? Does he do NBL or Cricket for Fox?

It says his replacement will be named in coming weeks. That sounds like they are not coming from within. Doubt anyone from 3AW or Fox are moving accross to SEN.

don't think they were allowed their own call team under the previous deal. huddo is a big loss to s.e.n. which is aboriginal 4 low ratings.

New deal in 2025 allows all 9 games on fox to be their own, but there's speculation that might start in 2023. Huddo stepping down from SEN indicates this may be the case.

They should be trying everything they can to bring back Matty granland. He’s the best caller on 3AW

You would think there would be more opportunities for him at SEN now. Fairly sure 3AW still have Tim Lane, Bruce Eva, Al Nicholson, Kevin Bartlett, Shane McInness, Tony Leonard and Grandland all calling at different times. It's alot of callers for what will now be four games a round under the new contract.

Also when Grandland moved they were calling Cricket and had Mcquarie sports going.

Please don't call Leonard a caller

That Saturday show is embarrassing .
Frightening that it is still on

Huddo is a big loss for them . Im not too fussed though.
I think Whately and he are almost better without each other.
A photo of them sitting next to each other at the end of the GF had Huddo looking very pissed. With Healey arriving and Whateley being full of self importance I am not surprised he’s going.

A San Francisco radio station dropped its 24/7 sport news talk format for an all 24/7 betting last week and it has not be received at all by listeners over there

However this would be a Hutchy wet dream of a radio station

Iconic Bay Area radio station KGO officially jumps in the sports gambling toilet

After not-so-subtly hinting at it over the weekend, Bay Areanews radio stalwart 810 AM completed its switch to a sports gambling station Monday.

Longstanding programming was abruptly canceled by owner Cumulus Media on Oct. 6, leaving hosts stunned. The slow death of KGO, the former name of the station, was a familiar story for legacy media, though. "KGO has been in steady decline for years, and that’s unfortunate, but that’s kind of the industry overall," longtime reporter and writer David Lazarus told SFGATE last week. Lazarus, who worked for KGO from the late 1990s until the early 2010s, is now a reporter for a Los Angeles television station.

On Monday, the station formerly known as KGO officially rolled out as "810 The Spread." If its early programming is any indication, the switch is more of a cost-cutting move than an aggressive investment in sports gambling. As of 7:45 a.m. local time, The Spread was airing "BetQL Daily," a syndicated podcast with two guys named Joe. The Spread's weekday lineup appears to be three syndicated betting shows and The Jim Rome Show, followed by CBS Sports programming overnight, according to Barrett Sports Media.

As a supporter of the Oakland Athletics MLB club, I spend some time on some fan sites for the A's where 95% of the fans are based in Oakland, across the bay from San Francisco. Based on some posts to the fan site, I'd say that this change was universally hated by the locals.

Huddo is a bigger loss for their Cricket coverage I think. He didn't really call that much football for SEN. He would of been lucky to call 30 games a year.

With the change in rights they also lost some of their wider market where as Cricket he would of been calling for all states.

Good radio Cricket callers are harder to find as well in my opinion.

also some speculation he might be going 2 that sh*t radio outfit 3AW.

Huddo and Whately are both far better calling cricket than footy imo
