Many years as a recruiting manager for Sydney, responsible for their haul of rookies who have gone on to have successful AFL careers.

The way he talked about Stocker's ball drop on his opposite side was quite arousing.
Funny you say that cos as I watched the whole thing I had this thought of...yes...this is what Sydney have been doing for a long time. Adding in hardworking midfielders that others didnt rate high enough.

I want to take Agresta out for breakfast and talk football for a couple of hours. Guys knows his stuff, would be fascinating.

If you see this Mick, PM me.
I’m available. I’m willing to do it for the free feed. PM me. I’m retired so any day suits me.

No. Would not have been enough. Swans wanted a Crows pick thrown in to give up pick 13 to them along with the mid draft picks we gave to Crows for McGovern.

I look at like if we got Dylan Shiel we do not have Stocker and a first round pick next year.
So in short term we did not get the mature aged mid we wanted but with that out of our control we still drafted an extra mid we needed for long term. So the short term mid boost not there but the ongoing build has deeper roots now. We now basically working on the internal mid development of Kennedy, SPS, Lang and Setterfield to collectively not miss what we wanted from Shiel added next year. That would be the aim for 2019. Actually leaves us with an option next year in a way. If the mids come on quicker than we planned we got a pick we probably intended to trade for a mid to now use for something else. Have a funny feeling missing Shiel going to turn into a blessing in disguise.
Who's Shiel?

Unpopular opinion, but I can understand Knightmare giving us a poor rating.

Walsh - Knightmare believes Lukosious to be the best junior talent he's ever seen, so I can understand him criticising us for taking what he sees is the 'safe pick'

Stocker - If we rated him at #6, then great. But that aside, we paid what could be a very high price for what all other teams saw as a kid worth ~20 at best

O'Dwyer - 4th round picks are always speculative, but he has no exposed form and no one aside from Carlton and Finbar's mum has ever heard of him

Silvagni - he's good enough a prospect for pick 70. But there will always be questions of nepotism unless he makes it

I'm not saying I agree with knightmare, but it's easy to question each of our picks. And we IN THEORY overpaid for Stocker, Finbar and Walsh (if you're a massive Luko or Rankine fan).

I'm happy with our guys, but it's not ridiculous for people to question our moves. Plus while Knightmare is unbelievable at his research, he can be questionable on rankings.

People need to chillax.
Re Stocker, we rated him at 6 as our we needed mids more than anything else.
We may have rated him 15-20 if we were in dire need of KPP's.

I rated him at 2.

As he was our second pick

I want to take Brodie out for breakfast and......on second thoughts, maybe not breakfast but just a cup of coffee. Not sure I could afford the breakfast. :)

The Stocker trade sure took a lot of guts...

I don’t know what the hell I did...102 days to go and I’m already losing it!

I think that means it's time to start a Round 1 preview thread.....

In unrelated news, does anyone know when Aph goes on holidays? :)

Probably more relevant for tigers board?

I try not to acknowledge the existence of the Tigers board.

The Shaun Hampson trade was worth an exemption though.

Must say that the opening scenes of that video struck me as being just a little odd.
The fact that the group were discussing the pros of Stocker and then even watching video of him, is something that would have been done days out from the draft.
The whole notion of making a play for Stocker was already afoot, given some of the dialogue between SOS, Adelaide & Port Adelaide.

If this did play out as is being portrayed, Bolton must have had no idea what was going on. How could this be so?
Surely the coach of the club has some input or at least has taken out the time to see some vision of who may be coming into the club.
This video had Bolton shown up as having no idea at all, as he even requested the number of the player he was to be looking at.

Anyway, the video did get a lot of people talking and even if a little doctored, made for fascinating viewing.
