I love a weed reference. All those bloody robbers blowing into your yard and never leaving.

For those not living in Victoria Paterson’s curse is a highly invasive but gloriously coloured weed. It is known by other names.

Paterson's curse (Echium plantagineum) is an invasive plant species in Australia. The name Salvation Janeoriginated from, and is mostly used in, South Australiadue to its use as a source of food for grazing animals when the less drought-tolerant grazing pastures die off. Other names are blueweed, Lady Campbell weed, Riverina bluebell, and purple viper's bugloss.

I have plenty of spare time so I googled this for my brothers and sisters who live in other parts of the federation.:moustache:
Ahh Salvation Jane such a good lass....

Fair bit of media about him this week (on Carlton website), after 2 weeks as emergency wouldn't be surprised to see him picked this week.
From memory, the likes of Fisher, Willo and LOB were blooded in the early rounds after VFL games that weren't huge on ouput but showed some nice potential.

Can definitely see Bolton doing something similar with Stocker.

I don’t dislike the idea of Stocker playing however I think we’ve passed the need to throw kids in at the deep end. Play him when he’s ready. Lots of factors to take into account and I think we’re under less pressure to play Stocker compared to the players of 2016, 2017 and 2018.

What I really want to see is the next 1st gamer coming in to a side with a win behind it. Worth more than anything for development and confidence.

I've got a good feeling about Stocker. Great size and skills. Could he become a de Goey type mid sized power forward?

I feel like De Goey has a nice height advantage which is critical, but apparently it's only 4cm difference.

Stocker does have that powerful explosive build, though.

Totally agree...i think he'll become a ripper over the next few years once he adjusts to senior footy and his fitness levels increase.
And in 3 or 4 years time, we'll be rapt with him and the A Grader we traded in for Cow's 1st rounder...Cow's fans will be happy with their high 1st round pick....and the only ones still trying to score points off 'the trade' will be the gutter journalists.

And the never happy posters.......

Only viewed the one game live and what becomes apparent about him;

1. Strong. Very strong for a young player.
2. Courageous. Went very hard at the ball.....but then so did all the NB's players to be fair.
3. Vision and awareness were there. Small thing, but really liked him tapping a ball to a player instead of taking possession and being tackled.

There weren't really any occasions where his speed stood out, nor his kicking ability.
That's not to say they're not there, but his possessions didn't really have the need to showcases these traits.

I don't know about comparisons but haven't seen anything in his forward ability yet, to compare him to De Goey.
First impression is an Ollie Wines type, but that may also change.

I agree with your 3 points there on him. Much of the NB’s pre season has been me going just to take a look at Stocker.

Because he plays on the last line in the zone defensive setup, I’ve seen him a few times have to run back into the open space as the opposition has booted the ball down the field without looking and he’s got nice speed on him, so we can give that one a tick. He kicks the ball low and hard when he has time from a mark and when I’ve seen him kick long down the line, he has comfortably got 50-55m on his drop punts, so I would give that a tick as well.

The comparison that I would give to him based on the role that he has been playing would be Dan Houston from Port Adelaide or Brad Sheppherd from West Coast. I think it’s important to stress that that comparison is based solely on the role that he has been playing (which I wouldn’t call half back, he’s playing an accountable stopping role that often has him deep in defence, on the last line). We haven’t really seen him play on ball at all yet, so I can’t come up with another midfield comparison for him.

Seems like another good game today numbers wise in the reserves.

Going from 14 to 19 disposals in the last quarter in a very close game is a great sign. Always value last quarter disposals much more than others. Something that Cripps did very early on, big last quarters.

Sign that his fitness is up yeah? Seeing games out..

He took almost every kick-out during the match yesterday so his disposal numbers aren't a great guide. In general play when he had the chance his handball dishes were elite. One example on the f50 arc he dished through what i thought was an impossible gap to Kennedy running into goal. It was amazing vision and execution. His kicking, the one thing he does is hit it sweetly. Kicked 60m with relative ease. The kid can play but i saw on many occassions his hands were on his knees , blowing heavily. He needs a lot more conditioning i'd suspect.

Watching his vfl highlights there is so much to like about stocker. He has many exceptional attributes. Strength, courage, smarts and skills. I have such a good feeling about his long term prospects. He just looks like a quality footballer out there with his poise. Irrespective of how his first game goes I am confident we have found a player and in three years everyone will be talking about how Carlton plucked a gun in the live trading. I'm really behind this young fella
