Former Shinboner Sam Wright is one of four new faces in the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos' coaching structure for the upcoming AFLW season.

Having spent the last three years as the Dancer Welfare and Development Coordinator at the Australian Ballet, Wright will take over coaching responsibilities for the Roos' forward line.

Drafted in 2008 from the northern Victorian town of Katamatite, he began his career as a forward and booted 23 goals in his second season.

Still haven't found anyone as good as him with both preferred and non preferred.

The thing I loved about him was his ability to slot them from 40 out on his left! Very early in his AFL career mind you!

Great player and will always be remembered for 'dat intercept'.

Good luck to him

“Collingwood has found its next AFLW coach, with former North Melbourne player Sam Wright beating out contenders including a Sydney premiership hero to take the reins in 2024.

Wright, who played 136 games for the Kangaroos over an 11-year career, will leave his AFLW assistant coach role at Arden Street to cross over to Collingwood next season.”

Wow that's amazing. Was only looking him up the other day and saw he was working with Cricket Australia. AFLW coach is a great step up.
