feck me collingwood pretty much had the entire AA midfield

C: wright, shaw(c), millane
Foll : xxxx, mcguane, russell

yeah what an over-rated team!

You're leaving out Daics - played FF in 1990 but we could have found room for him in the middle!!

(Ps the backline of Gayfer Kelly Christian Crosisca Kerrison Turner and Morwood went ok too. Plus Monkey and Manson in the ruck. Only weakness was the forward line).

it seems to me that ppl are trying to compare footballers with class!?! football is(was not long ago) about the 1% and the rough stuff and passion and not so much about the exquisite skills and so forth that teams possess today!

so in that regard collingwoods premiership side was the best in the competition that year and the qualities of the team were epitomised in the final in every way!

Ha! Weak, weak backline IMO...check out the Hawthorn backline from the same era.

The fact that anyone would even mention James Manson shows how delusional Collingwood fans really are

Dawkhead88bestever, how would you know, you were in nappies in those days pooping them brown with a hint of gold.

LOL since this d.i.c.k.h.e.a.d has made this thread, can i make one for 2002 since we should've won the big one against Brisbane... nnnaaaahhhhhh i'll be right, i won't bitch about things in the past, im looking at a bright future for Collingwood, seriously mate, get over it, you cannot judge Hawks on injuries that year.. if thats the case, i want this whole season replayed and i will go to the High Court of Australia because I (singular) believe Collingwood could have won the premiership this year if it wasn't for injuries and a little bit of luck :p

I agree with you on this point mate, let me know how it turns out at the High Court. I believe your case is strong - Collingwood had all the hallmarks of a premiership team this year...they were well coached, well captained and the young players stood up when it counted.

"The Pig - Dunstall" if I recall used to absolutely destroy Collingwood backmen ie. "quality" players like Kelly, Pert & Morwood. Your FF from roughly the same era was BT...need I say more??

I also remember a bloke called Peter Daicos who played at FF for the Grand Final, he destroyed midfielders AND backmen.. The Macodonian Marvel.. need I say more? ;)

He did that in ONE Grand Final? What a great acheivement. Check out the goal scorers from the 86, 88, 89 & 91 GF's. Hawthorn won all those games by the way.

hmmmmm don't forget 1990 if it wasnt for injuries ;) seriously this is a pointless thread, what if what if what if, honestly, with all due respect to the Millane family but if this bloke was still alive, i could have promised you he would have won a couple of Brownlows and been one hell of a captain after Tony Shaw.. lets not forget the Premierships him and Bucks with the likes of McGuane, Russell and Francis in the midfield would have delivered the Pie Army, but as i said, what if what if what if, it trully is a pointless thread sorry, ciao

You seem to be heavily involved in a "pointless" thread. I would view it as one of the better & more interesting sites on this board

The Pig, if I remember correctly, played both times against Collingwood in 1990 and was fit for the finals.

That's correct - he kicked 11 against the Pies out at Waverley later in the year didn't he? What was the winning margin in that game again?

If Sumich could kick straight it never would have come to that. Clearly, as I said earlier, it was a poor year for football...Libba wins the Brownlow, Longmire the Coleman and Tony Shaw, of all people, was adjudged BOG in the Grand Final. Worst Norm Smith medallist in history and that includes the following year's recipient.
If, If if!
If Collingwood had no injuries, won 7 more games, won all their finals we would be 2005's premiers.
If Nick Davis didn't kick that goal Sydney wouldn't of been the premiers.
If your mum had change for a 5 dollar note I'd be your father.

seriously, ******** off

I haven't lowered myself to name calling or insults, by doing so you only perpetuate the vision of the stereotypical Collingwood supporter. Which I'm sure you're all trying to move away from

I'm sorry but there was too many posts from a stereotypical Hawthorn fan (i.e. waaa waaaaa waaaaaa) to filter through to get to that post.
Oh but do please go on about how you might of won a premiership 15 years ago.

Will do mate, it's been very enjoyable. Judging by the amount of feedback I'd say the thread has been worthwhile & constructive for all concerned.
