does any body know how many goals Garry Ablett kicked against Carlton in the 1995 Grand Final ?

im not trying to stir up any body i just need to no ?

No, i think it would be best to post this thread on teh Geelong board.

Can't say i paid much attention to Ablett that day.

Perhaps go and ask Geelong, sorry, as i dont think any of us Carlton people could help you :p

Silvagni held him goalless. Ablett was great in his first GF but was very ordinary in finals after that thoughout the rest of his career.

if i recall got the grandfinal video pack of all the finals we won
they had 2 on ablett sos was one can;t recall the other need to rewatch it
ablett missed a few easy shots
keeping him down to 0 is a top effort its like keeping lloyd down to 0 :D
or a hall

1989 was sheer brilliance, 1992 he wasn't bad, and in 1994/95 he was playing in the goalsquare, starved of opportunities in sides that were mauled.

He is harshly judged in that respect. However, credit must be given to his opponents.

SOS was amazing that finals series. People bag his place in the Team of the Century, but I can never figure that out. Ten leagues above any other backman I've seen play the game.

As for Ablett his first GF was poles apart from his last. I remember watching SOS give his condolences at the end of the match and although I was over the moon, I couldn't help but feel a little sympathy for Ablett. Losing 4 GF's must be hard to take, especially after his heroics on 1989.

That sympathy though has all but disappeared since his involvement in the death of Alicia Horan.

He'd be the only candidate who's kicked a bag of 9.

SOS played on him all day, but having Dean and Sexton help with the spoils over the top helped his cause.
IIRC Ablett missed two set shots, 30-40m out, more or less straight in from early in the match (maybe hit the post on one) and got very little opportunity after that (the ball kept going up the other end, and with Kouta patrolling the wing and HB it just didn't get past):thumbsu:
