excited much ?steven icke said on the carlton website walks could even play this week bloody hell would that be a major plus for the blues even if its the week after great news![]()
A steel plate holding his collarbone together![]()
It depends on where the fracture is placed and the severity of it. Possible that the plate was inserted so he could play sooner where a "regular Joe" could be of action for a couple of months or more with their arm in a sling. The real problem is opposition players targeting him, eg Jack Reiwoldt "punching" Tayle Pears wrist last weekend.
That would more than likely happen but what would be the worst thing that could occur out of that? The steel plate would surely just strengthen his injury against these types of things

It's there to stabilise the bone, but the collarbone is very close to the surface, so strong tackling, punching etc could mean the plate cutting through skin. I have no idea how much pressure is needed though.
. Maybe they shouldn't rush him back thenIt wouldn't be pretty if that happened. Maybe they shouldn't rush him back then
The plate could be attatched to the underside of the bone, depending on where the fracture occured
given that the next few weeks are all very winnable games, I wouldn't rush him back too soon.
Spot on. The next 4-5 weeks will make or break our season. They are games that going into the year we would have looked at as the "purple patch" where we could string together 3-4 wins in a row. The fact we are coming into this patch a little better off than we would have reckoned on is a bonus. Lose more than one of the next 5 and we start to errode the positives gained from wins vs Crows, Cats, Saints and Power at AAMI, none of which would have been counted on.no, the next few weeks are must win games. drop these and may as well hang up the towel.
Surgeons aren't so worried about plates that sit on the surface of the bone in terms of re-injury. Should he cop a heavy knock of re-injure that area the plate is easily removed and they can re-fixate the bone if so required.I've had that operation recently, I'd be surprised if he comes back that quickly, as the bone is still broken, not to mention a steel plate being very close to the skin. If you have a heavy collision, i'd think having the plate in would do a bit of damage! My surgeon said the plate needed to be in for at least 4 months, but then again I'm not as fit as walks!!

I guess you just need to seek out some "informed" opinions. What we are learning is that when it comes to injury news we cannot trust the club to be up front and honest. The release of information on our injuries has been nothing short of disgraceful!![]()
