Does Diamond Valley League have a second division ?

Dunno, but I'll play for free as can't be much worse than some of ours on 400K+ a year.

One even has over 200 games and less than 20 anything I'd consider quality.

Even though we finally have some quality kids coming through, we still need a good clean out. Too many players have been there for too long now......Atley, JMac....Wood....to name a few.

Wonder if he’s been told they want to get games into Kyron and Marleys days are numbered?

If it’s not that then I don’t get how Marleys disposal is under scrutiny and he’s out of the side as a result.
But Pittards is just as bad and he also makes dumb decisions to top it off.

Marley can defend. His weakness is he over kicks.
Pittard can defend but his kicking is just terrible and it’s got nothing to do with his technique. He just executes poorly. His brain fades are inexcusable though. I don’t get it. I mean voted into the leadership group by his peers and then he goes out and performs like crap? Doesn’t add up.

Same. In a side of ball butchers at least he can actually outmuscle an opponent.

He should etch "scapegoat" on his locker.

That is about it, when he kicks within himself he doesn't have those problems.

He is a fast determined defender who shanks some kicks.

That was the weird thing he played a good game but somehow got dropped
When Polec was dropped he'd just had 25 disposals, a career high 16 contested. He had six clearances and tackles, heaps of those "pressure acts", 8 intercept possessions.

To me that seems like he's making the sort of effort to work on his weaknesses, ie inside footy, and contribute in those areas while are missing the likes of JZ & Cunners.

It's a very similar thing.

Maybe hub life is causing personality clashes that wouldn't happen if everyone was at home.

Although I have no idea of what Rhyce wanted from Marley or Polec that they weren't delivering.

It def looks like there is some sort of personality clash or something as well doesn’t there.

What do we do with this guy at year's end?

He's far and away our best lockdown on the zippy smalls (Cameron, Betts, et al), but he lacks the offensive weapons to justify his selection if the opposition doesn't have one of those blokes. His footy two years ago was great.

Kyron is favoured for obvious reasons, but is injury prone and still not entirely proven. Do we keep him on the list and just bring him in when he has a specialist job to do?

We can’t dump half the list in one go, although he’s got his flaws, he’s not the worst, unless he has issues showing up to training and giving it 100% I doubt he’ll be cut.

According to "AFL journalists" we may be cutting 16 off the list in one swipe. :tearsofjoy:

Would keep. What he does well - he does very well. Excellent one on one and overhead mark for his size.

Yes his disposal is erratic but he’s a backline Jed and IMO suits Rhyce‘s plans to a tee.

Round 22 last year and we wouldn't be having this discussion. It would be absurd. I think he turned it about yesterday and hopefully it continues.

Anyone expecting this guy to be perfect with the amount of heat the backline got tonight is a stretch. Even Tarrant got nervous.

He is a good defender in a team that is desperate for experience. Without him, we get spanked even more. He is, at worst, depth as a lockdown defender.

Lockdown defenders are crucial considering the amount of dangerous small forwards dominating the competition.

Everyone chill.

He was very good in the first half.

Got overwhelmed when the waves of Collingwood runners came at the defence in the second half, as did Atley, who was also very attacking for us in the first half.

Persist.

First half was solid. Was travelling at 100% DE with 10 or so disposals. Arguably he was playing it a bit too safe, a lot of short/medium backwards or lateral kicks, but considering the alternative AKA the second half you would cop that if it was the norm especially when you consider what he can bring defensively.

He’s a really good lock down defender. I think we just live with the disposal until we can find someone better. I mean we don’t exactly have John Rantall waiting in the wings.
