Yeah I dunno about this decision either.

I like Nick. Speaks well. Seems like a top bloke. Has a brain. Obviously knows how to kick a goal. I’d buy him a beer.

But as a key forward he’s unusually reliant on an uncontested game to get his job done.

Can anyone remember a scenario where the team was underperforming, and he demonstrated leadership to get us over the line?

Yeah I get that Harry is young, but he's a born leader, Larks as Cpt just doesn't inspire me is all.
I never had big X as someone who would be Cpt, but I think he would be a fantastic addition to our leadership group. He's an uncouth footballer, and I love it.

Anyone it would now seem is an improvement on Jy Simplekin.

Fair enough. Completely understand the view that Harry is a more natural leader.
As Kingy has said "Jy was captain in name only", so he thought X was the leader who makes the boys walk taller.
If Harry struggled with Cornes comments this year, then any mistakes in games or with his comments get amplified when you are captain, so how would he handle that at such a young age being the captain?
Maybe in a few years he'd be a bit more mature to be able to handle the criticisms that inevitably come his way.
Being captain might be good for Nick in terms of having to be a consistent performer and looking outside his own performance to help lead his teammates. Harry is clearly a future captain though.

We need to develop our next generation of leaders. Guys like Parker, Darling and even Pink will give everything to the group without the titles. We all think Harry is next guy up but he will need trusted guys around him. X-man can be the heart guy, We get to see if Cam and LDU can be the brains.

Harry has been awesome in leading the way this preseason. I've never had a bad word to say about Larkey, but yeah not overly impressed with this call. Not even sure why I'm not. lol

Wish him luck and a big fat serving of success. Oh the coaches want big Charlie in the leadership group, apparently he's maturing and going from strength to strength. Good, as I didn't rate his 2025 highly

And god knows who is the captain of the defence. I have a suspicion who, but I don’t even want to mention his name.

Genuine good bloke. He’s authentic when he speaks. He is a great team player. I think he will take his team game and the forwardline to a new level. I think you’ll see him sacrifice his game more than he had in the past. I also think we have more options to achieve this.

Larkey's on-field leadership is difficult to discern, though he's obviously a good clubman and presents well. Whatever.

I like that Larkey has embraced North from the start and didn't get his head turned when it probably would have been easy and lucrative for him to take off.
My preference was Harry but I get the age/pressure thing and I think we've got a great person at the helm.

I think the responsibility of Captain could help Larkey get to another level. The 100 year celebration (last game he played fit) he looked like Wayne Carey until the injury. We know his best is 70 goals, then we get frustrated when he doesn't always compete tooth and nail in the air. The title could just bring out that extra few percent in him more often.

I hope you're right but I dunno if he's captain material.

I dunno if he has the physical or mental toughness or the right attitude to his teammates.

Happy to be wrong tho, it could be the making of him and if it is ... ****en great.
