Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

Well if Eli can stand up against the Bucs D and the receivers dont drop the friggen passes... i think were gonna go ok.

Oh and i have a feeling Jacobs will get injured again.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

The Giants will be as flat as tacks and Eli will poo his pants so that = a bucks win. I'm sure John Gruden was popping champagne last Sat night. Watching the G men play their tails off and suffer those injuries to boot. If I were a giants fan i'd be like "WTF!" I heard people talking about how the G-man needed confidence going into the playoffs, they may have gained some of that, but they lost a lot more.

I love Was in Seattle. The hags will hit the "fraud" button harder than ever if that Was D shuts down the passing game.

The Jags and Steelers will be very intriguing! I like the Jags but wont be at all surprised if Big Ben alone can make a stand here. I have a funny feeling about the Steelers.Anything can happen in the playoffs "mojo" will appear in this game.

Charges SHOULD beat Ten by a couple of TD's and head off to play the pony's next week.

on a side note: Seeings your all frothing at the mouth for my pats to "CHOKE" as you call it(total disrespect for the NFL)my best team to loose next week will be Dallas. They will be the Chargers of last year. OH did they choke last year? oh no they just lost, Did the colts choke when they lost to the Steelers in 05? 13-0 that season,oh no they just lost. Keep your anti pats bias in the "patriots hating, nfl loves them" threads. Some of us like this forum, it would be a shame if it were to become troll infested, like most other forums..and no gg your not a troll........not yet;)

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

So no support for the Pats who have to live in with the worst division in Football... lol jk mate i know its different...

Anyway I DO rate SD as a legit chance to knock off almost any team... Hell, chuck LT in almost any team and they can win...

It IS about the run though... Will be essential this year. There are so many good QB's playing GOOD football this year that teams will be looking to stop it and will have to rely on the beasts in the backfield...

That may be true, but you also need a QB to at least play part of a role and limit mistakes. If teams just shut down LT (which is easier say than done, granted) all the pressure will be on Rivers. I remember the Steelers game where he played probably his best game of his career when they targeted the run.. Titans have a pretty good run D so it may be on Rivers to win the game for them again, and I dont have much confidence in him to do that.

He may surprise me, he may not be needed if LT has a real great game but that's unlikely in 3 straight games especially against the likes of the Titans, Colts and Pats and then to do it in the Superbowl. They probably have the toughest road to the Superbowl.

In THAT respect... Dallas should hold on to their favouritism DESPITE their overall poor performances recently with Barber and Jones in the back... Addai should hold strong for the Colts, as well as, as mentioned, LT... Jones-Drew (Another of my favourite young guns) should hold the ship steady with Taylor... Steelers swaying with bad injuries to one important boy in Big Willie, then of course, there is Maroney who is not exactly having a stellar season... Not that the Pats NEED it but they would only have shorter odds in my books with a more solidified backman...

As most know, im not sold on Dallas. With TO's injury it just confirms my doubts (reminds me of the hype of the Eagles-Pats Superbowl with TO being hurt), Romo will struggle if he isn't there. Agree about the Colts, good running game, great QB. A big chance of making it back-to-back.

Going with the Jags in the AFC for purely my homerish nature - as mentioned my 2nd favourite team, but taking that out of it, it would go Colts, Jags, Chargers, Pats, Steelers, Titans.... NFC obvious enough....

Yeah I like the Jags. They've played great this season, playoffs are different though and teams like the Colts and Pats have valuable experience.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

I would think that with a half fit Young, the chargers should get past the titans which would lead to Vinateri making up for that missed FG.

The "Overs-machine" Jaguars will run straight through an injury depleted steelers. Would love to see Jags @ Pats.

NYG @TB - who cares. Winner loses next week anyway.

Will emotion and a back-up QB be enough to get past the Seahawks. I hope so, but i think not.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

Im so nervous/excitied atm, playoffs are awsome. GO CHARGERS -

Chargers - 17
Titans - 10

Jacs - 24
Steelers - 21

NYG - 28
TB - 10

Redskins - 24
Sea - 17

So here are the matches for next week -

Colts v Chargers
Patriots V Jaguars
Green Bay V Redskins
NYG V Cowboys

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

My humble tips...

Titans d Chargers in a close game. Something like 20-17.

Jaguars d Steelers in a smashing. Something like 42-10.

Buccaneers d Giants without too much hassle. Something like 20-10.

Washington d Seahawks without too much hassle. Something like 24-14.

But the only game I'm really unsure about is Bucs v Giants because I cant pick that one. I can see the reverse happening too - Giants comfortably accounting for the Bucs.
I just went with the Bucs because it's their home game.

the redskins can only play the cowboys in the divisional playoffs.

Some damn good reading here in this thread.
I'll really buying into Zarko's Hard Sell of the G-Men. Don't forget guys that the play-offs allows new faces to emerge and call me CRAZY, but I got a feeling that the name BRADSHAW will emerge & hurt the Buccs D.

Giants picked up RB Ahmad Bradshaw from (We Are ) Marshall (clenched fist in the air), with their second 7th round pick and the kid just ripped a new @rsehole into the Bills in Wk16.

Surprisingly didn't play last week against the Pats.

I'm sticking with the Underdogs this week.

Washington ... Ready & ripe for the play-offs. Scalp dem 'Hags.
Pittsburgh ...as Galactic says 'the play-offs mojo' factor is BIG in da 'Burgh.
NY Giants ....Tiki Who? This team flexed self-belief LW and has a very beatable opponent on the road this week, a place where G-Men went 7-1 !!
Tennessee... I like Jeff Fisher, the guy is great survivor, good time of year to Remember the Titans. Chargers have Norv! :p 'nuff said.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

AmI the only one around here that thinks Vince Young is highly overrated? If you look at the Titans this year it seems that they are winning in spite of Vince Young, not because of him. If you ask me I think the Titans are almost better off with Kerry Collins under centre in the playoffs for now: experienced QB, been there done that, can play with a cool head and limit mistakes in a run happy offense. Nevertheless, I reckon the Chargers will give them a real pantsing, I mean for christ's sake the Broncos beat them :p. And as much as I like to bag the guy, I really don't think that Rivers is that bad, and if their defense plays to an acceptable level, I don't think the Ti Ti Ti Titans will go near them.

Of course you aren't the only one ;)

The Titans manage to win DESPITE Young... Gotta give real kudos to their D...

Chargers should push though but hey, its the chargers :p

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

Thing with Vince is that he throws INT at Crucial times. My Boy Eli does the exact same thing and boy is it frustrating.

Kerry Collins looked very good last week. Be it against a weak Colts D.

Tips:
NYG def Bucs (Close one)
Chargers def TEN (Blow-Out)
WASH def SEA (Comfortably)
PITT def JAGs (Comfortably)

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

Well u guys sure do hate the Chargers. They beat titans away during the season and now they play them at home where they dont lose much.:thumbsd: As L.T said in a interview most of the team has only been invloved in the 1 playoff loss 2 the Pats last season, so 2 be honest i think it wud have no affect on how we play. Just because we havent won a playoff game since 94 doesnt mean were never gonna win 1. Plus Vince Young will make 1 to many mistakes.

Chargers 32
Titans 10

Titans defence wont be able to hold the chargers powerhouse offence down all day. Vince Young will hit Cromartie twice:D

Haha its not that he throws them at the wrong times... Eli does that... Young throws them all the time WITHOUT backing it up with useful TD's...

Example... Eli has at least thrown 23 TD's with his 20 INTs...
Young has thrown 9 TDs with 17 INTs... Worse thing is he is trying to pass even more and more and NOT using his feet, which is what makes him dangerous as a QB.. As he plays now, he deserves no recognition...

I like your first two picks but I am acuallt reverse on the second week...

Come on Juddy, lets fly the Blue flag :D

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

G-MEN to come up big this week. Eli to turn pump up the volume and get that monkey off his back with a late drive to win the game.

Other games.
Seattle at home to good for the Skins in a close one.
Chargers to hand out the annual week one beat down on Titans. LT with 150+ and 2 scores.
Pittsburgh with a late field goal to get the job done at home.

Yay I am being persuasive :D

Hey I will gladly eat my words because it is an even money game... Tampa has a great chance to take the game just as we do...

Bradshaw showed off a few skills in the Bills game and I reckon we could have a fourth RB we can regularly use (Though I would really prefer Droughns not to be our 3rd/4th down guy)

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

My tips:

Chargers d Titans 27-7 - Titans now have 2 of their top 3 receivers out, TE Scaife and WR Roydell Williams. Passing game was crap anyway, now even worse. Aggressive Chargers D will play 7-8 in the box. Rivers' form ahs been good last few weeks.

Jags d Steelers 30-13 - too many injuries for Steelers. Jags will rush for 200+ yds and D will be too good for Willie-less Steelers.

Skins d Seahawks 20-17 - will be very close. Seahawks revival late in the season due to (apart from swarming D rush) emphasis on passing. Skins v.good vs pass. I reckon both Os will struggle. How good has Todd Collins been 5 TDs and no ints.

Bucs d Giants 19-16 - just can't pick this. Not sure how rusty Garcia is going to be.

Re: NFL Playoffs 2008

Titans 17 d Chargers 13 - I think Chargers are the better team but think turnovers will kill them. Still, I dont think it will be a blowout as many here are predicting.

Jags 27 d Steelers 24 (O/T) - Jags have been great all year, Steelers a bit shaky.. the injuries to the Steelers make me believe they'll fall over in overtime.

Skins 17 d Seahawks 7 - Must admit I dont know a whole lot about either of these teams but my smokey in the playoffs are the Skins so I'll stick with them.

Giants 31 d Bucs 21 - Again, dont know a huge amount about these teams. Giants may have played their playoff game last week and could slump here, but im expecting a relatively high scoring win to the Giants.

Wow VY makes Eli a TD God. Did not know Vinces stats were that bad.

To be fair, every time i see him play, he gets injured.

How can you say turnovers will kill the Chargers we have the best turnover ratio in the NFL. You really know what your talking about:thumbsu: Its more like turnovers will kill the titans with Vince Young throwing the ball
