Just putting it out there - I know it's a long way away but we have to delist 5 at the end of the season. We have such a young list I would find it hard to delist any.

If I had to name 5 I would probably say..

Wakelin (possible retirement or may be pushed with our group of KPPs)
Davies (Like him but doesn't seem to be getting a go)
Buckley (Hurts to say it but I think this is it. Last year)
Lonie
Stanley (they seem to want to replace Burnsy with Stanley due to his size, not sure what they'll do here. Burnsy will probably go the following year)

Not sure anyone else would be on the block but interested in your thoughts

Why do we have to delist 5. IIRC we are obligated to make 3 selections in the ND. I'm not saying we won't delist 5, but I thought 3 was the minimum.

I'd like to see us whack Stanley on the rookie list. Can't help but feel that he could become good and really hurt us later on down the track. He was a gun junior and his season in the TAC Cup is the exact reason he was taken so early.

in regard to stanley. do u think they might give him a senior game regardless of his form to see how he takes to afl and prehaps give him taste to give him something to work at? and isnt he only turning 18 ths year?? still pretty young if so.

Id say there will be a few retirements rather than delistings, might even see all 4 great servants of the club go - bucks, licca, burns and wakes. lonie is a possible trade at this stage. id suppose out of the youngsters those who would have to show something would be davies (i think he would be ahead of stanley seeing its his 3rd season at the club?), richards someone else but cant think of the name right at this minute. but yeah still lets just wait till the season finishes....some of these predictions could turn out very very wrong

Sam Isles?

there's a name I didn't think I'd see pop up. Mick loves him. Only a matter of time until we see him in black and white again

I would think Wakelin has to retire. Buckley gets to play out this year before anyone makes any call. He has well and truly earned that right. Burns form on Friday is encouraging but we have to see how he gets through the year. There are a lot players I’d cull before Lonie, particularly with our poor footskills. Davies has to be right in the firing line. Stanley is young and that may see him get another year. Nichols and Iles would be two to look closely at. Richards and Bryan would be on the chopping block by years end I suspect of we have any semblance of a ruckman or three.

Was pondering this yesterday.

Buckley (possible retirement)
Wakelin (Retirment)
Burns (possible retirement)
Licuria (possible retirment)

Thats four so far as way of retirement. You would think 1 of Burns, Bucks, Licca will have to go on. I think it will be Burns. He is mates with my old man, and he would like to go on again if the body is right. He still has an impact.

Then you have these guys

Ben Davies (a good 2's player, but yet to shine at AFL level)
Daniel Stanley (may fold under peer pressure :D )
Ryan Cook (Some are saying he may go. Personally I know him, and he is talented and young)
Guy Richards (Will be under threat if injury occurs again, or we trade for a ruckman)

I can see us delisting 5 players, and then promoting a rookie, which is a usual fixture at the Pies.

My final 5 would be

Bucks (only if the body doesn't come right)
Wakelin (retirement)
Davies
Licuria (Retirement)
and possibly Richards. If not it will be Stanley.

You seriously think Lonie should be delisted? If thats the case then you need to put down the crack pipe my friend.

Lonie?

Are you a clown or what?

FWIW, Bryan can and will go.

Sorry???

Are we talking about the same bloke? I assume we're talking about # 3 for the pies.

Lets substitute 'delist' with 'getridof' i.e trade/delist whatever. Are you one of these people hanging on to the hope that blokes like Lonie and Licuria and O'Bree are going to win us a premiership. Lonie has never improved. Defensive skills are terrible bordering on non-existent.

I qualify these comments - If Mick played him in an attacking role I wouldn't be saying to get rid of him. In the role he's being used in, he's dispensible.

Lonie plays his best footy when he plays a defensive role. He has the ability to play on the dangerous awkward sized players like Embley, Goodes, B.Burton, B.Johnson etc. and he has done very well on them. All he has to do is drift off them when we have the ball and he also becomes a weapon with his kicking skills

He doesn't have the ball winning ability to become an attacking player, his best spot is as a defensive winger or hbf, who can run the overlap when we have the ball and use his kicking skills to advantage.

Sorry champ, wrong wrong and wrong, see my "Why all the hate for Ryan Lonie" thread it will help to clear up any myths and miscoceptions you may have regarding our no3.

Keep your shirts on fellas. It's only my opinion. someone else wants to delist Sam Isles. That makes sense!!!!! Everyone views players differently and has their own take on who contributes well and who doensn't. You might tell me that Tom Davidson could have been anything if he had Ben Kinnear's knees, or Billy Morrison could have been the next Carey if he........was fitter.....had talent.........knew what a Sherrin was.....

It's all opinion. No need to lose the plot over it. It's purely mine - that I don't think he will ever get any better and he isn't the type of bloke to stand up when the chips are down. IMO!!

You said he has not improved which is clearly not correct, he had a very good 2006 and statistics prove it. Your opinion is no doubt the polar opposite of what the club thinks and Lonie will be staying on our list and then you say you like Davies as a player, Lonie>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Davies. Those who are blind cannot see.

no need to get frustrated, u put ur pro case for lonie forward, and he put the negative case forward

not everybody likes all players

Wakelin and Licuria will retire - when your time's up, it's up.

Ben Davies will get delisted. If I was in charge, despite what Mick thinks, Guy Richards would be on the chopping block. Daniel Nicholls could also be delisted.

We will find 5 players, no worries.

We dont have any young ruckmen so if we dont trade for a ruckman we will have to keep richards for at least another year.

We should target young Meeson from Adelaide. A young ruckman who was pick 8 a few years ago. Seems to be behind about 4 others including 2 youngsters.

No way we will delist Lonie.

At worst we will trade him. He does have some trade value but he has very good skills which we are lacking at the moment.

How many players in the AFL are going to win you a premiership? I hate it when people say "they aren't going to win you a premiership" because they never really define players that can win you a premiership are. For me if we had 22 players that would win us the premiership it would be the AA team. Lonie can certainly be a contributing factor to a premiership side.
