I can’t see the consensus that he is poorly skilled, I think he uses the ball well by foot and was a very good finals campaigner despite a pesky injury just 3 weeks out. Tested extremely well which should vault him up the order – guys who do well in the 20m sprints simply don’t get overlooked in a sport that emphasizes speed. Is good enough in close to find himself some space. Can run-off a tagger. Sets up goals and shapes as a handy wingman, not quite Higgins class but not a hundred miles behind.

Don't worry too much about a young ruckman, you're better off putting those guys on the rookie list and developing them for 3 or 4 years.

I'm quite happy with what we got. Harvey would not have brought Johnson and Bradley on if he didn't think they had something valuable to offer! And managing to steal Palmer was sensational!

Freo deserves every bit of carp levelled at us for poor drafting and trading after this.


Happy we got Palmer... know very little about the next two..... I am fine with Kepler as he has time on his side - he may yet do something.....


BUT if we have to have Johnson, then I would have picked:

55. Some other young bloke - Bellchambers or McGinnity would have done nicely
69. Kepler
74. Johnson
