Draft Review 2007 - Redo the 2007 Draft

Basically you did this because you felt Cyril was number one and wanted to hear others say it too? He clearly isn't as good as Patrick dangerfield or Trent Cochin who are up there in the premiere mids of the competition, not a part time mid forward getting 14 touches a game in Cyril.

And Harry Taylor an AA CHB and best marking defender in the game at 17? Clearly have no idea

As soon as you saw Grant at 5, Pears at 6 and Morton at 8 you must have known this was a old post.

Looks like a case of - Cats sees Hawks - goes into attack mode without thinking.

Re: re do the 2007 draft now that we know what we know
Nah it doesnt appear he will

He'll be better than those bolded for a start.
Careful how much you overrate some of your players because of the guns giving them an easy ride.

Looking back at the first few pages Cale Morton was really overrated........

I guess so, but the signs all said that he would be a fantastic player for us. His first couple of years were outstanding.

Didn't his game go to the shithouse when he injured himself thus stripping him of his previous confidence and skill?

No, in his first years opposition clubs allowed him to run free. After they woke up and placed someone within his general vicinity everyone realised he couldn't handle any pressure at all. In the end opposition teams just had people in the crowd shouting out his name causing him to turn the ball over

Good to see Cotchin's pre season form over the past 6 weeks has impressed you enough to bump him up a spot!!!

And he obviously hasn't been too impressed with Steven's preseason, dropping him right out of there! Jack was so much better last year than McEvoy was in either of the last two seasons it's not funny, hence Jack winning our B&F in 2013, while Mac didn't come top-10 in either 2012 or 2013.

yeah i would pick danger and harry over cyril for the hawks, and if buddy didnt leave i wouldnt consider walkers... cotchin meh i guess we need a young midfielder but it would be very hard to give up Cyril even if those players are needed for our team. Maybe lets hope we can get Danger or Cotchin or both next year when i think danger goes into free agency, i hope he doenst sign up til end of the year.. With our money sitch without paying Franklin, we could offer Danger a better deal, hes def first choice for me to join the hawks. Offer him a lot of cash and hope he jumps ship to us.. itll be money well spent.. hell we could maybe even get another good midfielder but i dunno how much is in the hawks warchest, but it has to be quite a bit since Buddy rejected the hawks offer... i want danger bad hehe, hes def my top choice if i had to get anyone in the league to join hawks.. Harry taylor 2nd, and a good KPF tp replace Franklin, but yeh danger baby! thats the man the hawks need

Not gonna happen mate, Danger will be captain at the the end of this year and will sign a 5 year deal worth 1 mil

well one can dream right? hes an absolute beast, if i were the hawks recruiters i would pay him as much as he wants within reason, but yeh dont see any signs of him wanting to leave adel so was more like a wish then actually think he would come to the Hawks.. 2 mil a year and hell come! hehe too bad we cant afford that

And he would be worth it. Not only is he a top of the food chain player, but he is the heart of the club. A leader, a poster child of dedication and hard work. The last person you would think would be on the front page of the newspaper involved in some seedy scandal. The kids love him at club days, he promotes the club and is the welcome wagon for all new players to the club. His parents raised a good son.

Where does Kruezer rate among this draft?

I would say Cotchin, Dangerfield, Harry Taylor are the standouts followed by Cyril and Walker....then a fair gap to Kruezer, Thompson, McEvoy.

Thoughts?

I agree the top 3 are clear standouts. Tier 1 - Cotchin, Danger, Taylor

Thompson was one of the best backmen in the league in 2013. He is at Cyril's level. With a few others.

Tier 2: Walker, Rioli, Thompson, Stevens, Ward, Hanley, Selwood. Walker a big chance to push into Tier 1 if he can fully recover from his knee op.

Tier 3 - Rance, Kruezer, Henderson, Ebert, Mayne

Tier 4 - Masten Hooker, Grimes, McEvoy, Bellchambers

Being pretty generous to Kreuzer there imo. I would take every player in tier 4 over him except Grimes because of his injury history. I'd also move Selwood into tier 3 he doesn't have quite the hurt factor of the other midfielders in tier 2.

Mumford was in the 2007 draft as well but I'm not sure where to rate him.
