I was thinking about this today, seen as we have only recently gone past the halfway mark of the season I thought it would be interesting to see what players people think will be in with a chance.

I've narrowed it down to 4

Dane Swan
Rhyce Shaw
Paul Medhurst
Alan Didak

Peoples thoughts..

Toovey
Maxwell
Cook
Stanley
and i think that Our No. 1 Ruck Fraser might sneak in.:)

I stated a few weeks back that i thought Shaw was leading and I still think he will win it.

ATM the top 5 would be:

1. Didak
2. R.Shaw
3. Medhurst
4. Swan
5. Pendlebury

I think Pendlebury and Swan will make a late run for it, Pendlebury's last few weeks have been very good, notice he has moved in to the top 10 for average Champion Data ranking points which is very good considering his lackluster start to the season. H.Shaw wouldn't be too far away and is certainly capable of winning it.

I think these are the four. Pendles would be there-abouts and perhaps Heater too.

I reckon so Far this season - I would go with medhurst

At the moment, I reckon it'd be something like this:

Didak >>> R Shaw > Pendlebury >> Medhurst > Swan > H Shaw

Fitness permitting, it'll probably end up being out of Pendlebury and Didak.

EDIT: Actually, Leon would be in the group along with the last three. He's been good, and ought to have racked up quite a few votes.

Would've had Leon in front before that clumsy bonehead West dropped a 100 odd kilos on his leg in the Geelong game. He was flying before that injury.....

Lockyer is starting to run into some real form, he could have a massive 2nd half of the season. MM kept him in the bank till the last month or so.

Swan & Didak for mine going forward. They are very hard to tag.

Heath Shaw has had some quieter games due to his heavy tag and these tags will continue. I hope he can get free or stand a gun forward who will actually go for the ball.

Medhurst would be close to the top at this point along with Neon.

R Shaw has had a great season so far but just lacks the polish that Swan and Didak can get on the footy.

Pendles will poll well but the Swan and Didak should be more prominant.

H.Shaw is better when he has an oponent to look after. Obviously due to his attacking flair we are better off putting him on a crap opponent but most of his better games have been on a player. Last year ANZAC day in probably the best individual performance from a Collingwood player he played on Lovett, against Bulldogs he played against Johnson, and against Richmond he played on Brown.

Rhyce Shaw would not be top 5.

Medhurst
Didak
Pendlebury
Davis
Heath Shaw
Swan

All well ahead of him.

Heath Shaw is having his 2nd worst year since being drafted.

mine would be
Pendels
Didsy
Swan
R.Shaw (if he doesnt get injured)
Little Heater (i understand the irony)

As it stands right now, this is my leaderboard (using my own system, I haven't totaled the points since round 7, until now):

Alan Didak - 77
Scott Pendlebury - 71
Dane Swan - 70
Paul Medhurst - 61
Tarykn Lockyer - 61
Heath Shaw - 58
Rhyce Shaw - 55

The biggest surprise for me is Lockyer, who I didn't personally think was having a great year. But he's just been consistently in the top bunch of players, and worked his way up there. Heath was right up there early, but his poor patch had made him fall. I thought Rhyce would be a tad higher, but he's still top 7.

Dane Swan is having a massive year - but as we found out last season, the voting system rewards dynamic performances a hell of a lot more than it notes consistent performances by evergreen midfielders that MarkT thinks should've been delisted.

For the very reason outlined above, I'd expect Medhurst, Pendlebury and Brown to be more prominent voters than guys like the Shaws, Tarks, Neon - who do an above sufficient, but not overly eye-catching, job weekly. Wello might be an outside chance, younger guys proving themselves worthy of games should poll well.

I've just gone over my "votes" for the year (which I didn't want to do until the end of the year)

10-7-5-3-1 system

Swan - 48 - 3 BOG's
Medhurst - 36
Pendlebury - 33 - all votes have come between 4 & 10
H. Shaw - 27
Burns - 24
Lockyer - 23
Didak - 21
Cloke - 17
Thomas - 17
R. Shaw - 15
O'Bree - 15
Maxwell - 13
Rocca - 10
Davis - 7
Wellingham - 7 polled 7 against Geelong
Wood - 7
Fraser - 3
Bryan - 3
Brown - 1
Johnson - 1
