This is just a general thread to discuss our 2008 fixture and how we think it will impact our chances of success this year.

I understand the AFL has chosen to not use the system where the teams played in the first 7 rounds play again from round 16 - but does anyone else find it whack that we don't play St. Kilda until round 21?

We play Essendon, Richmond, Carlton, Hawthorn, West Coast and Port twice before we come up against the Saints.

Its a similar situation with Sydney who we don't play until round 17 at which stage we would have already matched up twice against Port and the Hawks.

Looking at our fixture though, I am still very confident we can play finals footy in '08 - although getting back a strong home ground advantage would play a big part in that.

Going 6-5 at home last year is considered to be a major dissapointment. This year we need to win more home games because our away draw is much tougher this time. 8 or 9 home wins with 4 road wins will garuntee us a finals spot.

I have pencilled in 8 games that we should win, not including showdowns. Pick four more up and we should make the 8.
Round 4 Freo
Round 7 Kanagas
Round 8 Melbourne
Round 10 Essendon
Round 11 Richmond
Round 12 Hawthorn
Round 19 Carlton
Round 22 Bulldogs

These are my definte wins, as at January 23rd ;)

Other "kinda likely" Sydney at SCG, Two Showdowns, Pies at G. Round 1 V Bulldogs, Saints at Telstra Dome.

12 wins is a possibility.

We wont beat Freo in Round 4. I'll swap Round 4 with Round 3. Round 19 vs Carlton is also a danger game and the Kangas and Richmond both have a good record at AAMI Stadium vs us too.

We really have no idea who we will and won't beat at this stage. What do we have to go on other than last years form and off season list changes? Really our club as much as anyone should realise how many variables go in to the success og a season. How about we wait just a little while before we start who we will and won't beat.
