Crazier things have happened and this is not that far fetched. Detroit will be tough in the east, but Boston is very strong. Looking at the west, LA has improved themselves greatly, by adding Gasol and they were a team on the rise anyway. San Antonio isn't playing as well as they have and may be on the downward slope, given the ages of many key guys. Dallas hasn't done anything to improve themselves and Phoenix is trying to reinvent themselves 50 games into the season. New Orleans looks good now, but they have not had the playoff experience.
It could be 1987 all over again...well, actually, 1984. We can't have LA winning it again.

Lakers vs Celtics was a great computer game back in the day :thumbsu:

Ahem...well with the Lakers somehow acquiring Gasol for a packet of chewing gum and a chocolate bar, they are a decent shot of knocking off the Big Three for the West title this season. Pau in LA is more dangerous than Shaq in Phoenix IMO.

The Celtics' obvious challenger is Detroit, but I have a nagging feeling that the Cavs might be thereabouts come East Finals time, with LeBron putting up even crazier numbers than usual since the new year...

Lakers 4-1.

Kobe MVP and Finals MVP.

Looking more and more certain with every game.:thumbsu:

this might seem like a silly question...

but how does a player who hasn't won a single playoff game in TWELVE attempts become the saviour of a mediocre playoff team?

Honest question.

Im not about to argue the point because whilst we are currently atop the West, the post season proves to be a whole new ball game.

Ask Dallas. :)

Pau should be able to taste a Playoff victory with this squad, unlike in Memphis, here he is the #2 option. LA are a better balanced team with Pau than Memphis ever were.

But for now Im enjoying this sustained run of success. :thumbsu:

Bah ...

On paper, Celts have the Lakers pretty much covered ..
I think Kobe can be easily negated by the stifling Celtics defence (no 1 in the NBA this season)

We have thrashed the Lakers both times we've played this season (admittedly before the Gasol trade) but the way I see it, the sheer dominant force of KG and his hunger to win a ring would easily be enough to get us over the line if we played the Flakers in a 7 game series ..

Do the Lakers seriously have a decent opponent/matchup for KG ? I somehow doubt it ...

Even without Bynum, more and more certain with every game.

Is it Possible???

The Celtics have been unbelievable so far this season. The Lakers have been solid, and getting some decent performances out of the younger brigade of Bynum, Walton and Farmer, but do they have the talent to get past the Spurs, Suns and/or Mavs?

Don't think so, but it nice to dream!:):)

It will be Utah vs Detroit

Thanks, but it wasn't really a prediction, more a hope that the Lakers make the finals. Below is a prediction I'd like to see become true. I may even become a fan of Bryant if it comes true.;)

Stern would be loving this.. especially after last years finals series..

Celtics with the worst record in the league last season and the lakers looked like they were gonna lose Kobe..

I want Boston to win but the Lakers are playing soooooooooo good right now.. they're so well drilled.. Of course LO could go back to his dumbass ways, Kobe could get frustrated and shoot his team out of it, Pau could be scared to go in the paint but I'm just hoping for this..

Lakers in 6..
