Ok could someone please explain the changes to the draft THIS year. Not the concessions given to GC next year.

People keep saying to me that we'll be at a disadvantage finishing low this year??

There is a little disadvantage as the draft pool is weakened by the change in draftable age. Gold Coast can take Queenslanders that want to play for them, but Declan Bevan is the only one in that category of any significant worth.

For what its worth, Ive already compiled my NAB Christmas draft wish list. I have had a good look at Kane Lucas's game, and I have decided that we should stay well clear with our first pick - Stephen Hill is a lot better prospect.

Definitely want Butcher with our first pick. A modern star forward.

If we can get another pick between 7 - 15 Mitch Duncan is the midfielder I want. Koby Stevens is another in that pick area that would be good.

second round, I think we should go get Lewis Jetta. I think he is mature aged, but it doesn't matter. A real midfielder but fast, good tackler and wonderful skill.

Don't want Anthony Morabito but I can imagine him being someone high up on our actual recruiters list because of his upside. In fact I can see us overlooking Butcher just like we overlooked Rich - he plays too much like a footballer so he doesn't have much upside :p

Farren Priest is way too small - we have enough small midfielders.

I know this is early, therefore I am not expecting a difintive response, however it is fair to say we will have a very early draft pick(s). At the start of the year I thought we would look to draft more mids, however after watching the first 3 games I think my opinion is now divided. We have KPP deficiencies at both ends and midfield deficiencies also. With our first pick who would you go for early doors eg Lucas (WA Mid), Butcher (Vic KPP) - happy to hear any other suggestions.

This talk epitomizes the problems at the FFC, its culture and its supporters.

The season is only 3 rounds old and your already talking about the 09 draft.

I guess whats next tanking !

Come on you guys should be seething and baying for blood !

Wouldnt it just typify Freo if you finished with the wooden spoon and ended up with pick 3 :o

Melb wont win 5 games and there is a half reasonable chance we wont either giving both clubs priority selections before round 1 IIRC

That derby win against us cost you pick 19 last year and possibly pick 1 this year.

Yeah well, Freo supporters generally have blinkers on, they only care about the next game generally. And at a certain stage in their careers of supporting Freo they actually begin to like being defeated constantly, without the defeats their lives wouldn't be the same, they need Freo to be worse off than them. It's our culture.

WCE at least know how to tank, and why hold it against them when it gets results. In all likelihood you are going to get a #1 or #2 pick simply for playing youth like we should have been last year. Trade our stars for more picks? Pfft, then we wouldn't have the possibility of coming 9th or winning more than 4 games...

No.. no we have a winning culture at Fremantle.. that is a short term winning culture. Any sort of long term, planned sustained success isn't what we want. Too difficult.... too... different.

If you read a majority of posts, you could tell that the supporters and members are seething and angry...I am, we are!!

Rather than wallow in shite however, I like many others are looking for answers to create long-term, positive change. Therefore rather than being part of the problem (ringing talkback shockjocks etc) I would think being foward thinking and looking at possible solutions such as draftees is the polar opposite to the cliched cultural problems espoused so often by those outside of FFC.

Here is a question for you - do you think the Crows (or any other club for that matter) have an eye on the 2009 draft - if so, do they have culture problems?
