Really happy with the draft for the Thunder. Harden was the player I wanted with 3 and while Mullens could be a bust I think he is well worth the risk with 25.. Now hopefully we can get a defensive C.. like Chandler

Happy with the Rockets draft, Chase looks like he could be a steal or could be steve novak..

Budinger trumps Novak on athleticism alone. He was runner up in the 2006 McDonald's All-American Slam Dunk Contest in his Senior year of high school, and was co-MVP (with Kevin Durant) of the All-American Game that year. He's white, and is known more for being a jump shooter now after his college career, but if he can use his world-class athleticism more effectively on the court (ie. drive and dunk more), he can be one of the steals of the draft. He was rated as a lottery pick when he was considering entering the draft in 2008, so he's got talent. That's why I'm annoyed that the Pistons gave him away so quickly.

BTW I have only been following Rubio as a player rather than the bitching behind the scenes.

Why exactly is it that Rubio is apparently cold on Minnesota?

Mavs guy David Lord has a very interesting take here

And props to Mike Fisher for to linking to 'Hot Kidd's awesome thread re smacking Rubio at the end of that piece

I think the issue here is no one actually knows what he thinks. Most of the articles written are based on body language, his mothers dislike of cold weather and a door stop they did with his dad straight after he was drafted.
Some of the crap, like on DX and ESPN, is supposition linked to bullsh*t based on the Wolves being a screwed up organisation.

I'm willing to wait to see some prenouncements about what will happen.

It's in Rubio's interests, the interests of Joventut and Dan Fegan, his agent, to negotiate a buyout. Joventut need the money, Fegan gets his cut and Rubio gets paid.

Flynn may be a fly in the ointment (they shouldn't have drafted him) and I don't believe for a minute that they can play significant minutes together (particularly on defense) but the Wolves are very clear on the fact that Rubio will the guy when he arrives.

And of course Rubio can play with other 2 guards (Ellington is 6'5", Brewer is 6'9", Gomes could pinch hit). I'll expect some trade work to get another SG.

My expectation is that Rubio will stay in Spain and come over in 2010 when he is buyout is much reduced. But David Kahn is steadfast right now - he will not be traded. And neither he should be. He knew what the draft entailed.

New York seem to be ESPN's prefered destination for him, except that they have denuded themselves of talent so thoroughly for the summer of LeBron that the cupboard is bare. Wilson Chandler is the most interesting piece but he doesn't get it done on his own. Not even close.

Nate Robinson? We have Jonny Flynn
Jordan Hill? we have 9 PF's on the roster.
David Lee via S&T - 11 million/per for a nice player when we Kevin Love doing the same (or better) on a scale contract.

He can't get a national deal from Nike or Adidas playing in one of the top 20 media markets in the US? Seriously?

simmons classic:

5:49: The Indiana Pacers are on the clock … for going bankrupt. And for making a pick. The pick? Tyler Hansbrough. That launches the N.Y. fans into an "Overrated!" frenzy. Hey, I'm excited for Indiana's 2009-10 local marketing campaign: a photo of Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Jeff Foster, Hansbrough and Travis Diener with the UPS-like slogan, "WHAT CAN WHITE DO FOR YOU?"

I must admit, Simmons diary was as mundane as the draft itself.

IMO, Simmons is overrated. And I hope the "overrated" Tyler Hansborough turns out to be a great player too :D I like his style of play. I don't see why he gets derided or ridiculed for it. I wish every player gave the effort and had the passion that he does for winning.

I don't watch college, but it seems a bit overboard all the criticism the Pacers and TH are copping. His college record is outstanding in terms of stats and awards, it was reportedly a weak draft, and he plays a position the pacers desperately needed depth in. Apparently worst case is Jeff Foster who can score a bit better, and to be honest I'd be very happy with that.

He must do a lot else well to have been so successful though?

Well, he was a great scorer in college, but no-one really thinks that'll translate over.

fwiw, I think he'll be ok, but doesn't really fit your roster. I love guys that play hard though, so I wish him all the luck in the world.

If he's the hard working, intelligent, PF with ability to score in the paint and run the floor he definately fits the roster. He'll get decent minutes behind Murphy at PF, with Foster backing up Hibbert.

Be fun watching the Pacers next season seeing how TH, Rush and Hibbert develop.

Transcript of a webstreamed conversation between Brandon Jennings and rapper Joe Budden.

On next season in Milwaukee ...

Budden: You better worry about Ramon Sessions, diggin' in your a**, pause.
Jennings: He's not going to be here. [inaudible] That money is going to Charlie.
Budden: N****, Ramon Sessions is gonna be there.
Jennings: I doubt it.
Budden: They ain't go no other guards.
Jennings: Ridnour.
Budden: N****, get that bum-a** n**** outta here.
Jennings: He's going to be a backup.
Budden: To who?
Jennings: To who? Who else n****?

On what happened on draft night ...

Budden: Who was hatin' on you?
Jennings: Jay Bilas.
Budden: What happened? You ran in the draft late or some dumb s*** like a loser?
Jennings: No, I was at the hotel. This is what happened right. My agent is like "Well, we ain't hear nothing .We ain't have no guarantee." So we makin' phone calls and s*** and n***** is saying like "The workouts is great and everything and he's the best point guard but we don't know yet, we just don't know."
Budden: They didn't say that about Rick Rubio, number one, and number two they didn't say you the best point guard. They said your jump shot is shaky, you got some potential, but your work ethic is bull****. You averaged 3 points.
Jennings: You're a liar. I know you're lying now.
Budden: I'm just telling you what they said.
Jennings: That ain't nothing but a college person.
Budden: Just tell me what happened. You end up running in the draft? I tunred it off after that.
Jennings: No, n****, I came out there and made my appearance n**** and I had the best appearance out of all them n******. And I was the best dressed, they said, by the way. I was the best dressed.

On whether he'll start next season ...

Budden: You think you gonna start for real though?
Jennings: I don't know, actually, I really don't know.
Budden: I heard that n**** Scott Skiles is an a**h***.
Jennings: That n**** tough, that n**** tough though. There must be a reason he liked me. There must be a reason.

On Ricky Rubio and the Knicks ...

Budden: Let me know when Minnesota get there. So I can watch Rubio light your f****** a** up. I never seen a n**** hate on Rubio so much.
Jennings: [inaudible]
Budden: You know what's funny? You're the only guard in the draft talking s*** about Rubio.
Jennings: The other n***** are scared.
Budden: What are you going to do when Rubio comes to the Knicks?
Jennings: Rubio is not coming, they are not giving up Rubio. You got Jordan Hill, you happy with that?
Budden: I don't really know enough about Jordan Hill to be happy ... I'm happy with Toney Douglas.
Jennings: I know they were booing this n****.
Budden: What does that mean? They boo everybody n****.
Jennings: If it was Stpehen Curry, them n***** would've went crazy in there.
Budden: Shut the f*** up, you don't even know nothing about New York basketball.
Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** skipped out on me.
Budden: Oh man, you feel to the Knicks like I do about Jay-Z? [Laughs] Yo, the Knicks is your Jay-Z?
Jennings: F*** the Knicks, them n***** is always going to be weak.
Budden: This is where I f****** hang up on your f****** ass for talking stupid.
Jennings: Duhon ain't gonna get it done.

Haha if that is real I love it, those n***** got done by teh internet police.

No wonder he bypassed college.......
