I know what you mean, I traded him for Hodge last week. Needed to keep my Hawthorn quota up. :p

That said, the moon boot only came off recently, so I would think he is still a while away.

This from the Hawks board:

Thought everyone might be interested in the fact that Xavier has the moon boot off and has started running.

He is hopefull of returning in round 9 although the club expects more like round 11 or 12.

His injury was a very weird one. Xavier popped the bone back into place himself (ouch) on the day against Kangas.

One doctor said he would be out for the season while one doctor said 6-8 weeks.

Clarko quoted on Herald sun site as saying Birchall,Gilham and Ellis all chances to come in this week.

Clarko in his press conference mentioned that Hodge has been playing hurt and they may give him 2-3 weeks off for an adductor release.

After I just traded him in this week.

Brilliant.

Im so glad I didnt listen to the people on this forum and went for Mackie last week when he was cheapest.

Something always didnt feel right about Hodge

You can read as much as you want but nothing beats actually sitting down and specifically watching the player to give you the best chance to make an informed decision in this game.

I ****ING HATE ADDUCTORS!!! They are a major sign that footballers are ****ing soft these days!! Francis Bourke played a ****ing grand final with a broken leg ffs!!

**** you adductors and **** you soft footballers Ablett, Beams and Hodge. Grow some ****ing balls.

Something tells me BB had all three of these players

I have been twice stung by the adductor curse though Hodge looks like a cheap pickup after the 2-3 week rest :thumbsu:

Hamstring strain apparently.

In the West Australian today "West Coast are hopeful Mitch Brown will be available for next week's match agaisnt Sydney at ANZ Stadium, even though he was a late withdrawal from the squad to play Melbourne tomorrow because of hamstring tightness."

hopefully its a grade 1 or 2 and he misses a week or two at the most.
with the amount of pain he was in though prob a grade 3 :mad::mad:

Is this actually Gary Ablett? http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,25453495-19742,00.html

Says worst case scenario is him returning against the Dogs (Round 9)

Fantastic news. This article brought a smile to my face as all I've read the last week has been how many pople are trading Ablett out because he's injured. I had him from the start and when he got injured I just benched him. He's the best player in the league, if you have him in your team you keep him, regardless if its 1 or 2 weeks that he's out. I'm gonna love reading the trade discussion thread this week when all those idiots that traded him out now read that 'Jesus' might be playing this week. I wonder how many nutters that traded him out last week bring him back for the Kangas game? :D

Don't get too excited yet.

Just reported from Epworth hospital; Rance cleared of skull/brain damage but has a fractured cheekbone which will required surgery. Diagnosis: out for 4-6 weeks, probably closer to 6.

Gees, the poor kid was just starting to string some AFL Games together and then this happens. Showed real hunger at the footy, when many a player would have squibbed the contest.

Hopefully we see him make a full recovery.
