As for my highlights....
The parade of champions at the end of round 22 vs St Kilda, saying that, major props must go to St Kilda for walking across the ground and making a guard of honor for the retiring champions.![]()
Do they? I suppose you expect the Aussies to win the cricket when it's in Australia. And the Poms to win when it's in England. Do Collingwood win all their home matches? This year they lost 2 and drew 2 at the G. Last year they lost 7. A home ground does not a guaranteed win make.

So saying that, is it ok to lose all our way games as the principals should be reverse?
Post hoc ergo propter hoc is Latin for; since that event followed this one, that event must have been caused by this one. Having home ground advantage doesn't work like that. Home teams don't automatically win and are not guaranteed a victory. It's false logic mate.

I don't think tw13 is saying that it's a given that teams will win at home, just that it's not something special to be celebrated when they do.
Well when you use words like ‘expect’ and a few different examples of who he expects to win , it kind of does.

I'm trying to read between the lines![]()
No, you're a moderator, therefore you're being diplomatic.![]()
If I modpost I generally make it pretty obvious.I don't think tw13 is saying that it's a given that teams will win at home, just that it's not something special to be celebrated when they do.
But I think that is wrong as well. If you come up against a good side, the home ground advantage is there, but it's not nearly a decisive enough factor to put the game beyond doubt. A good win at home is still a good win. Wins such as the Freo win a few years back where we were up by 40 points in the last quarter at home and scraped over the line by 4 points seem less like something to celebrate about.
The way I look at it - if I come away from a win at AAMI thinking we still would have won at a neutral venue, then it's a win worth celebrating. It's all well and good to say that "wins should be the expectation and losses should be decried", but if you have high expectations then maintaining should be worth celebrating.

Posters have mentioned them, you are just so pidgeon holed in your negative world to notice. They are exactly that good wins, dont take it out of context and make them highlights because if a good win at home is what you are relying on for highlights then its been pretty dour.
Now try again Im waiting for all these dazzling highlights from 2010 that AFC want their supporters to celebrate on Facebook
Or is someone going to actually have to balls to come out and admit the club is kidding itself again???

A highlight doesn't stop being a highlight simply because it's been surrounded by lowlights. We all agree they were few and far between in 2010, but the fact that they are outnumbered by the lowlights doesn't stop them from existing.
If we were in a sporting competition where everyone was starting from an equal base every year, you'd be well within your rights to expect top performances all the time, but we're not. We're in a comp that is designed to be cyclical. We're not always going to be the top side, we're not always going to be impregnable at home. Sometimes we're going to have a lean year.
I agree all clubs at all levels go through lean years, but how many clubs go through lean years at their own doing???

Doesnt guarantee it I agree but if you are celebrating home wins as a highlight then there were so god damn awful lowlights.
Keep embracing medioctry one day you will all see and come crawling back that I was right
AGAIN
Obviously you weren't at the game. Beating the reigning premiers at home on a Friday night to keep our slim finals alive was spectacular...
The crowd was one of the loudest I have heard at AAMI and some of the goals were pretty damn special...
I guess if we ever win a home Preliminary final it won't be a 'highlight' because its a home game and we should win...
No I wasnt at the game.
Mate with the 'boys club' running the AFC we wont get anywhere near anything remotely exciting.
