Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Rafa has withdrawn?!

PS. Sorry, I'm late to this thread.

No just the Davis Cup after Wimby.

Have to admit the timeout was very suspicious, played his best game after it, kind of really looks like a strategy and just because Fed has done it before doesn't make it right. I don't think Petzschner had the consistency to finish it off anyway.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

Lol as if no-one else does it...Hewitt has done it before when he has that "aductor" injury, and always when he was down. Who cares we don't want some chump in the 4th round, we want Nadal! I do think Djokovic and Murray are playing the best out of the top 4 though.

Re: 2010 Wimbledon

so anyway....

How lame is the Wimbledon "rest day"??!!! What is the point of it? Playing all 4th round matches on the monday just means there's less good matches available to be watched live.

Also what's the deal with the umpires referring to women players as either Mrs or Miss when the men aren't referred to as Mr? Do the English feel its that important to know a female player's marital status? Are they still living in the 1950s?

Well it's Wimbledon and everything has to stay the same so that's what they do. However they've got it wrong with Kim Clijsters, the umpires call her Mrs Clijsters, when they should call her Miss/Ms Clijsters. I know she's married but you're not Mrs if you're going by your maiden name.
At the AO this year I heard a lot of the umps referring to the men as Mr when they challenged.

I like the rest day. Just gives everyone a break and allows some of us to catch up on some sleep before the 2nd week starts. Think of the players too, Wimbledon is the one slam that has a history of less straight set matches, as a player you need a rest. Even Hewitt with his ridiculously easy draw has dropped a set, Federer has dropped 2, Nadal has dropped 5.
