Ottens bashins into jolly at 1st bounce.
Wojo knocking jollys groin around.
Wellingham trying to cork Stokes on ground.
Wellingham elbowing scarlett in ribs at boundary
Leigh brown crashing blokes left right and centre.
Leigh brown head butting ottens on ground
Swan wanting to have a go at lingy when swan boke his nose
Thomas running full pelt into ling on boundary
Jolly and brown constantly upending, blocking ottens and west
Wellingham hitting selwood in face
Chapman hit in ribs in marking contest
Champan wanting to uppercut maxwell after in the back not paid
Maxwell smashing stevie j in nose in tackle
Thomas giving a backhander to mackie then fasolo coming in for some and mackie leaving him speechless
Bartell giving it to dawes after goal from 60m
Maxwell slinging stokes to ground in 1st quarter
Joel corey corking luke ball on boundary
Pendels mouthing off to christensen after tackle not paid.
Stevie j with a far cue cant in last quarter.
Cloke giving loners a backhander and knocking his head off
Very hard tackles on pies all day
Taylor lights out after leon cleaning him up
Scarett revving up crowd for more support
Cats players chasing down and shaking pies players hands after siren.
Ling applauding pies as a club and their year and bad luck
Maxwell apoligising to pies fans and nothing else.

She was one damm firery game. A game with more feeling in it than any other i can remember in recent memory. Was more like a grudge match or revenge than anything else.

Cant remember and more off top of my head...but these ones stood out most to me...

just to further confuse the issue :

A bloke on another Geelong site, who I would classify as Stevie J's biggest fan, swears black and blue that he is actually saying 'F*ck you Daisy'

Those in the 'F*ck you Taz' camp should be able to see that the 'z' in Taz and the 'z' in Daisy could make for some lip-reading confusion ...

at the time I thought it was definitely the more inclusive 'F you C', having watched it a couple more times though I reckon the Stevie J nut might be right ..
Sounds like an idiot, growing up being hearing impaired and having to rely on lip reading. I can safety say it was c&@$t, you can clearly make out the c and the t in the word.

Edit: just read SJ tweet, should put to bed this idiotic debate.

Re: 2011 GF Verbal

I believe Leigh Brown was the culprit. That troglodyte was constantly shoving the knees into the ribs of Cats players during contested pack situations and gave Bundy one hell of a sling tackle off the ball that was lucky not to break his collar bone.

trog·lo·dyte

 [trog-luh-dahyt] noun
1. a prehistoric cave dweller.
2. a person of degraded, primitive, or brutal character.
3. a person living in seclusion.
4. a person unacquainted with affairs of the world.
5. an animal living underground.

The funniest thing about this incident was that the big brave collingwood man trying (and failing) to intimidate one of the smallest blokes in our side reportedly broke his knuckle doing it.

Yeah...and he apparently re-broke his thumb doing it. Seemed like the pies knew they werent the better side so pulled the old Alistair Lynch manouvres to try put the opposition off game...didnt work then and doesnt work now.

How good to see the captian leading by example though. Idiot.

Re: 2011 GF Verbal

I would add talentless to that sledge :D
Mans up on space, goes 3rd or 4th man up at every contest he can, punches the ball and the struts back into space with his chest puffed out... You only need to watch the 09 prelim again to see how ineffective he is when forced to play on an opponent... He either gets beaten easily or gives away a free kick and then looks genuinely shocked that he has been called up for it..

How about the idiot's comment after the game:

"I didn't know where to play".

Let's see......you're a defender, so how about the backline you moron? So when one key position forward goes down (surely a good thing for the opposition), you aren't able to deal with it?

Possibly the most overrated player in the competition. Although people are catching on now. Pretend Captain. Pretend footballer.

Natural w***er.

Not as funny as Stokesy ending the tussle on top of Maxwell and Tarrant having to pull him off his skipper. :D

I remember reading an article in the Herald-Sun on the morning of last year's prelim about how his parents were hoping the Pies would beat us as they feel Geelong did the "dirty" on their precious son by not drafting him when he was with the Falcons, which caused him having to play a couple of years at North Ballarat before being drafted by the Pies.

Someone should tell them Geelong recruit footballers, not talentless hacks like Maxwell who only seem adept at running at full pace to punch the ball out of bounds, and to look like a petulant child who had their lollipop taken off them whenever he gives away the most obvious of free kicks.

People used to think Richie Vandenberg was the worst captain in recent memory. I think it's safe to say Nick Maxwell's got him covered comfortably. I had to laugh the other day when a bus pulled up in front of work with an advertisement for the University of Ballarat with the word "leadership" and a photo of Maxwell's bonce. I doubt that would get much interest in the Uni of Ballarat if they think Maxwell is the epitome of leadership.

Wow...both barrels....seriously though...tell us what you really think? :D:D:D

I think it speaks volumes about Malthouse's opinions of his captain's abilities that after Pods went off and Hawkins was dominating Reid, and SJ was doing likewise to Tarrant in the second half, Malthouse decided to 'hide' his captain up on the wing. :D

I'd guess Maxwell has read a book on management and thinks he's suddenly a leader of men. He is sadly mistaken.

Maxwell has that dangerous mix of thinking he is an intellectual, not being an intellectual and being outspoken. Much like his former coach.

Re: 2011 GF Verbal

Slightly off topic, but I would love to know what Stokesy said to Varcoe after his goal in the last quarter. Watching their interaction on the replay, it was pretty obvious Stokesy was pretty pleased with Varcoe's efforts in creating that goal.

Forget which quarter it was, but Varcoe went to Stevie J deep in a forward pocket and Stevie fumbled it. As they passed Stevie must have given Varcoe an earful because for a split second he looked absolutely crestfallen. All the camera sees is the back of Stevie J's head butr the reaction on Varcoe's face as they pass tells the story.

In the last few minutes, after Lingy kicks his goal and they're setting up for the bounce he's motioning furiously at someone we never see. He's barking orders at someone and he looks intense, almost a bit angry, but you don't know who its directed at.

Re: 2011 GF Verbal

There isn't much love lost on the field, by all reports the Geelong boys were pretty brutal with the verbal in the '09 PF and then our boys returned serve in the '10 PF and you guys had the last laugh in '11.

Yeah, it's all part of the to-and-fro of footy. Love it. Wouldn't have it changed for anything.

Worst thing about living in ballarat is seeing those bloody adds everywhere haha
I struggle to believe for a minute that he finished uni,... struggle to believe he even got into a uni to be honest...

Winty, Stokesy pointed up the ground and then slapped Trav on the back. I would suggest that Stokesy was pumping him up for the way he contested the mark between FB and 1/2 back, gained some ground with the kick off the ground. Then when Bundy handpassed the ball to SJ, Trav was running his guts out to add support to Duncan in the contest.

It was great gut running from Trav to rove that ball off Duncan and he looked completely spent after he kicked it.

What amazed me was that A. Hudson (IIRC) reffered to Trav's goal as "lazy". At least Lloyd acknowledged the effort in Trav's goal.

I personally thought that for team work and gut running effort, it was the best goal of the day.

To be fair to Huddo, he didn't describe is at "lazy" in a negative manner, more of a way to describe the ease in which he laid it on the boot and stuck it through the big ones.
It was almost like a back-handed compliment, essentially saying he made it look easy.

I read it that way as well. He also used the word "casual" earlier in the sequence, but I thought that that was a description of Trav's style rather than of his effort or intensity. Huddo is hardly one to disparage a Cat, is he?

Lloyd subsequently calling Trav's effort in creating the goal "folkloric" was deservedly poetic.

I'm going to play devil's advocate on this one. There were a few things I thought Trav did that was lazy.

His attempt to mark in he back line where he was first seen in this passive of play - he should have taken. To be fair both players looked spent in the marking contest but imagine if the Pies player took the grab over TV? We'd all go crazy. To TV's credit he kept going after Reid spoilt the ball. I'm guessing TV didn't see him.

Later on when TV was chasing the ball with quite a bit of distance away from another player - he just kicked it along the ground, much like he did in 2009 IIRC. His kick off the ground in 2009 went out of bounds on the full. Luckily this time it kept going forward. At this point Huddo says 'kicks it casually off the ground, but that's his way' or something like. I totally agree with him.

Both the attempted mark and kick off the ground I can remember at the time I was pretty annoyed at TV for, I just thought the effort wasn't there like it should be in a Grand Final. Note I'm stating in those exact moments. The fact that TV had kept running from defence after that attempted chest mark and moments later was at the other end of the ground kicking what was probably the match winning goal didn't register at the time. His effort to keep running was top class. The attempt at the marking contest and dribbling the ball along the ground didn't sit well with me.

you know what's weird about that comment.......if Varcoe takes the mark then he likely never kicks that brilliant goal or if he went with the drop punt instead of the dribble then he would have shanked it considering fatigue.

If we could peer into that elusive alternate universe, it would be one hell of a freak show:thumbsu:

I agree, i dont get Maxwell as captain. I think a captain would of realised the plight Reid was in and got back there to help him out regardless of where MM told him to be/ stand/ man up on.

Harley/ Ling and soon i belive Selwood, daylight, then Maxwell as captain.
