Thanks for posting, Davo.

I asked in another thread where we could find the broadcast schedule for the entire season for specific cities. Nobody answered.

Surely the AFL and their broadcasters have planned in advance who shows what games and in which cities at which times. Surely?

Yes, not very hard to find at all.

AFL website - TV & Radio - Broadcast Guide

Although was only available this week, as last week you could only see NAB Cup tv info. Why I can't now check TV info for Round 22 I do not know.

Apparantly they were talking about HD on Footy Classified this week.

For the games shared by Se7en and Fox, it will NOT be HD. For the games exclusively on Fox, it will be HD.

So anything with Se7en involved gets SD on Fox.

THIS MEANS NO GRAND FINAL IN HD! What are the AFL thinking allowing this?

Imagine the impact of AFL in HD in pubs and clubs on Friday nights around the country! That is just a pipe dream now. Wasted opportunity to expand our game...

SHAME ON SEVEN FOR NOT SUPPORTING HD AFL!!!!!

Seven are stuck in the stone ages!

Why doesn't Adelaide get the Fremantle v Geelong game on Seven straight after the Crows v Suns game? Surely this can be done seeing that Seven hold the rights to the Freo Cats match. Ten did this last year but showed both. Don't tell me we are going to get snubbed of having more than 4 matches on FTA in the new agreement since in the past we've had up to 6 per round on FTA.

The Seven games are filmed in SD, and upscaled by Foxtel to what Foxtel considers "HD". It is not "proper" (1080i) HD, unlike the Fox-filmed games.

I have more of a problem with Fox saying (from their FAQ page):

"Will all games be broadcast in HD?

Yes, all games will be broadcast in both Standard Definition & High Definition."

SD upscaled to HD is NOT High Definition.

They don't have the rights to the Freo v Geel game full stop, they would have the rights to show it at [x] time in [y] market.

They will choose the 4 matches they think will fit in best with their schedule, subject to other matters, such as being required to show all WCE & Freo away matches live into WA, etc.

Um, yes they do. http://www.afl.com.au/broadcast guide/tabid/9451/default.aspx#locd=VIC Melbourne is the only city that gets every match that Channel 7 broadcast themselves (out of the 5 main states), so whenever in doubt of who is hosting the match and has rights to it just check their schedule. If the Seven Network has the rights to a match, they are allowed to show it on any Seven station around Australia.

Been having a look at the entire schedule http://www.afl.com.au/broadcast guide/tabid/9451/default.aspx#locd=VIC and not once does Adelaide get more than 4 games on 7. As it is a requirement that Crows and Power matches must be shown on 7, (even if the host broadcaster is Foxtel), we will be missing out on matches that 7 are hosting (on weekends where the power and crows games are being hosted by Foxtel. So if one crows or power game is hosted by fox, we miss out on one 7 hosted match. Or if both crows and power games are hosted by fox we miss out on 2 7 hosted matches.

It's a real shame and in fact a step back in time from the AFL, as last year we only missed out on matches from the FTA host broadcaster if the matches were on at the same time (when port and crows matches were being hosted by foxtel and had to be shown on FTA)

A big loss considering that Seven get the top 4 games each week. Poor form AFL.
