Would do the Hunt trade. Certainly showing good stuff right now.

10-15 probably a bit steep. I would go 15-20.

Lets say 10-20 then :D

But something of the sort of Caddy (who I dont want to trade by the way) and a some sort of pick for Taylor Hunt? Could add some grunt around the centre square, whether half forward, midfield rotations, wings, or half back?

Throw Toy in with Caddy and get Taylor Hunt. I would do that, but I'm not sure Cats fans would. ;)

I can very much see us bundling Toy with Caddy if any deal were to be done. Especially if Caddy for the thing we want is just out of reach. Considering we need to down our list again.

I would think something in the 10-15 draft pick range? Would be a straight swap.

What about a Taylor Hunt at Geelong? Young only played a handful of games, could be a welcome addition?

Doubt Geelong will probably give up any young regulars given how many seniors we have to retire soon, we need to hold onto those kids for the transition. Probably the only kids offered would be those that feel they want more gametime, i.e. Gillies and his attempt to get to Hawthorn last year come to mind.

If we rate Caddy enough we will definitely offer our first pick which will be inside 20.

Like I said, would take it. :thumbsu: Hope the Suns recruiters think similar.

I have said it before but we should be shopping Caddy around to as many Vic teams as possible, Unlike you Super I would trade him, has shown zero loyally, has exagerated the truth (about his Dads ilness) to get what he wants and continues to dodge questions about his future while taking radio interviews in Melbourne. We need players that what to play for each other not theseselves. Let him go to the highest bidder and then he's heir problem.

Agree. Fair trade.

Hope for the Suns that whatever happens they get themselves a decent return for Caddy-need to make a good statement and not allow other clubs (not that we would, but some might) to push them around at the trade table.

I would. I would put him at a mid-late first rounder at this stage.

Though if he finishes the season strongly, and he is definitely getting better, I'd be more inclined on the mid first round.

A pick 7 we have put 2 years into , we should really be playing hard ball with Caddy , we owe him nothing if he leaves , would be happy to see him go in the psd and be picked up by GWS . Clayton's past shows us he is great at the trade table and he will go hard.

Caddy's first 14 games have been better than a lot of blokes, who have gone on to be champions. If he was rated as pick 7 two years ago, he should be even more highly rated now. I'd still rather keep him, but if we have to trade, we need to receive decent compensation. Mid to late first round draft picks are not enough. Barring serious injury, the guy is going to be a star.

Truth CB
It may well be that Clayton has been found out a bit with the players we selected and the way footy has now developed needing more in and under extraction skills
You can bet your bottom dollar though that he will be addressing that and if past form is anything to go by, he'll walk away from trade week smiling and we'll have a crop of players who will compliment our current crew

Can we delist Campbell Brown?Payout his final year and bring on a solid cheapie from somewhere else?
I mean we have literally got nothing from the guy in 2 years, so we're not losing much

First we get someone calling to delist Iles and now you want to end Browny's contract a year early? WTF?

He's been one of our hardest runners all year and as depressing as it sounds as a defender he's tied for second (with Gaz) in the entire side when it comes to getting 6 points.

There's few at the Suns that go hard at the ball and Campbell is one of them - Take him away and who do we have left?

He's played 18 of a possible 34 games ...and of those 18 has probably only finished 10 or 12 at full fitness
It's a poor return on investment
I'm on record as saying I think Brown has been trying his guts out, but I think the game has gone past him

I agree with this, no point in disrupting the culture and influencing our young fellas firing a senior player.

Brown will be gone post 2013, the game has past him. Keep him on as a training body for the rest of his contract, nothing more.

Thoughts on dropping Caddy now for the rest of season to Neafl?

I don't think this will effect his trade value as vic clubs know his talent/youth. Will also allow us to give a game to a player who wants to be here long term. I'd like to see this move and shows the club is bigger than any 1 player.

Not sure we can be THAT ruthless with Caddy, especially considering our injury list.

I'd like the faith to be shown, hopefully we can jag a few wins in the latter half of the year and he can be involved in one, and he re-signs :) I dont think he was part of any of the wins if I'm correct as he only played the last 2 games of the season?

Agreed. I think pulling stuff like that shows a lack of care and respect for your players. Regardless of what he may or may not do at the end of the year, he is still a Gold Coast Sun in 2012. If he respects his side of the bargain by playing his guts out for the team, we should keep playing him.

It's not uncommon, Crows even did it with Bock in 2010. With free agency coming in though, may see less of it.

We should trade Caddy, we don't need him. Look at all the other gun inside mids on the roster.

We don't have many right now that are fit.

To be honest, our depth of inside mids is surprisingly small. Something I've come to notice only with the injuries we've copped. Swallow, Prestia and Caddy are the baller brigade. Two are injured, and if we don't play Caddy, which youngsters have we got left that can split the packs?

Really hoping we get some in the draft this year that are more inside based. Hence why I've focussed on them in the Draft Options thread. :D

I agree that we shouldn't disrespect Caddy, we need to take the higher ground but we should have a clear idea of who we would be interested in from each Vic club and how that could play out.

For instance, the Bulldogs win the fight for Caddy and we get a mid first round draft pick, we package that with one of the young boys keen ot go back to SA for Tippett, or give this pick and our (likely) number one pick to another club for there first pick and a quality player. The options are extensive and I hope the club is across them as we could easily get shafted like Essendon tried to do last year.

I know it has been done before, but that doesn't mean we should do it too. I think we should just concentrate on fielding our best team each week and do the right things by our current players and worry about trades at the end of the year.

With caddy and Dixon i think carlton may be one club that may be able to sort out a deal.

With Fraser to be delisted and Smith out of sorts a bit this year, i think you would benefit from trading for a ready made ruckman such as a hampson. Him being a Gold Coast boy i think he may be open to it. Warnock could also be on the table as well as he is out of contract and his brother being on ur list.

Also what do you think Dixons trade value would be?

Would Warnock/Hampson + 1st round = Caddy + Dixon?

This is assuming caddy and dixon want to leave.

Dixon will not go. I don't know how many times we Suns fans have to say it. He'll be at the GC next year and the years after. I'd bet my bottom dollar on it. He's one of our few originals and loves the place. Incredibly hard to see him going after all the work he's put in wanting to stick around.

Caddy on the other hand is another question.

Trading for a ruck? I just can't see it I'm afraid. Smith will have 40 games in him and another pre-season. We'll also have plenty able to pinch-hit.

I realize Carlton have rucks on offer, but to be honest, GC is the last place you could probably give them too. ;)
