2012 list management.

Fair enough. I think he should be starting at collingwood fwiw.
What do you reckon about the others in the list?

Not too bad, some fringe mids from a club like Collingwood could come in handy. A ruckman isn't in our list of priorities though, even though our guys are young, they're going ok IMO. Someone like Varcoe would be unobtainable though. Why can't Cyril just leg it from Hawthorn to us? :D

Good point. I dunno, Hickey just seems to have shown more. At least for my crazy memory. Not putting Gorringe down of course. But Hickey's contested grabs just really stand out for me.

Haha probably because Gorringe played mostly in 2011, and Hickey played mostly in 2012? :P

Jesaaalenkooooo you beauty :D

Aside from that mark, I cannot remember him doing anything significant, other than a few nice grabs in the forward 50. :/

Really hope to see what he can do in 2013!

I think the heat should start to turn up for big Zac to be honest...could be quickly overtaken by Dixon/Gorringe/Hickey in 2013.

Dixon is our Tippett/Natanui/Cox we should be grooming him that way, a ruck/forward. I dont want to see him in the backlines again...EVER. Unless he is floating back a kick behind play or whatever, but not as a CHB or FB is what I'm getting at.

Back to list management. How many more do you think we are letting go? Fraser, Krakour, Coad, Jolly, McQualter, thats 5.

Moss - delist?
Toy - trade
Magin - delist/trade
Nicholls - trade?
J.Hall - trade/delist?

Rumours for Rischa and Brennan to be delisted/traded also a week or so ago which I dont agree with. But the above 5 + the 5 announced on Saturday is 10 players pretty easily.

so with the confirmed delistings of Coad and McQualter, do we only have J.Hall and Horsley on the rookie list? With Horsely expected to get an upgrade this leaves us with 1 of a possible 9 rookie spots. would we expect to pick up players in the rookie draft? and what sort of players should we be going after?

Well, off he goes... :(

Josh Caddy today informed the Gold Coast SUNS of his desire to return to Victoria to continue his football career.

General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said the GC SUNS credited Caddy for his professionalism over the last 12 months.

"We are disappointed with Josh's decision, however we appreciate the transparency and professionalism Josh has displayed whilst making this extremely difficult decision.
After making the decision, Caddy thanked the GC SUNS for their understanding and support."

"It has been a very difficult decision to make and I would like to thank the players, coaches, staff and fans for their support and understanding. I will be forever grateful for the opportunities I received with the SUNS."

“It was a tough decision to make knowing that the SUNS have such a bright future and are on the right path to success, and I have made many great mates at the club. I do though believe the move back to Melbourne is the right thing for me" Caddy said.

Ashcroft said the GC SUNS would now begin discussions with Caddy’s management to facilitate a move.

"We will now commence the process with Josh's manager to find an alternate home for Josh. Both Josh and his manager understand that it will be the clubs intention to facilitate an exchange that will deliver the most favourable outcome for the advancement of our playing group going forward."

Waste of a bloody pick. Who else could we have gotten instead?

The only pick I would want is that compensation pick from Geelong, it will basically be a refund of our pick 7 in 2 years time.

Can someone please explain to me how compo picks work? have a general idea but not aware of the specifics?

http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=131093

This is the basics of it

- Must be activated before the season start to be used in that years draft. e.g. Before Round 1, and used later in the year after all the teams finished.
- Picks are tied to the original club that it was given too. e.g. The picks Geelong were given from the Ablett poach will always be tied to Geelong's finishing place on the ladder.
- These picks are tradeable, e.g. GWS was able to trade back the compo pick that Adelaide received for P.Davis.
- GC compo picks to be used in either the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 seasons. (Expires 2014)
- GWS compo picks to be used in either the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 seasons. (Expires 2015)

Thats my understanding of it all. The formula for the compensation of a club for the player that is poached is unknown and basically at the AFL's descretion.
