NRL 2012 Melbourne Storm Thread

Tonight was my first ever time attending an NRL game and i wasnt impressed. Fans booing off an injured player and yelling things like 'soft ****' and 'weak dog'. I thought AFL had some w***er fans but tonights nrl showing took the bogan cake.

Like AFL fans don't say those things and have never booed off an injured player?

Indeed.

Last night I saw a player stand on a guys hand in one of the most disgusting acts I've seen on a footy field and yet there are people on this site who insist this sort of disgusting behavior is only seen on a thugby field. All sports are littered with fools and idiots and the sooner people realise that the better.

Why we played Kelly i'll never know. Expected him to leave so no big surprise.
Perhaps because he was the captain of the winning Toyata Cup team 3 years ago and was supposed to be better than Widdop.

So that justifies getting a game? Surely the club knew he had a offer from Parra on the table.

The fact that we released him straight after the match makes no sense. We should have played Bromwich.

Should have played Ben Hampton. Looks like he is gone as well.

Whilst poor form from the geniuses that jeered Fulton on Friday, I remember some Collingwood fans jeering a Chris Newman broken leg.

There is presently a thread on the main board accusing Richmond and Melbourbe supporters of it this weekend gone.

Poor effort from anyone doing it BUT let's not pretend its reserved simply for Storm fans or RL as a whole

In any crowd there will always be a minority of dickheads who stand out above the majority doing right thing.

Some Richmond fans cheered when the news that Sandilands had been subbed was flashed across the big screen. It was very poor form, but they/we didn't jeer him from the ground while he hobbled off. There is a difference.
Still poor form though, but in a crowd of 43,800 can't expect all of them to have average IQs.

It was probably MelTiger or BalmainForever. They were in a right royal state after the game so it wouldn't surprise me if they let their inner suburban Sydney-side came through during the game.

lol

Try reading his post you twat - Olympic Park. Besides BF wasnt pissed.

I can certainly promise it was never me ... Pies @ the footy = No

Regardless , it's just a piss poor justification for being a filthy, glory hunting team switcher. Highly unlikely to be true. Credibility of an alleged team switcher = Zero

Injuries are unavoidable. It happens.
My thoughts on the way SOO is fixtured are well known, but you can't blame injuries on SOO. Just a fact of life. Billy could have been injured at training just as easily.
Corey Parker as well. Shit happens.

Slater out for 3-8 weeks.

And that is the ugly side of origin. I hate unnecessary injuries in exhibition matches.

I don't think Origin can be called an exhibition match by any measure. Injuries happen, he could just as easily have been injured on Monday night and still be out for 4-6 weeks.

Looking at the next 5 weeks, should go 3-1 at worst:
R15 - Eagles (A)
R16 - Bulldogs (A)
R17 - bye
R18 - Raiders (H)
R19 - Cowboys (H)

Only game I'd be concerned about is Monday night against Manly, apart from that they are all very winnable even without Slater.

It is an exhibition though. It's not really necessary. Will become even less so once WA get a team and NZ get a second team.

I'm worried about the bye.

There is no way it's an exhibition match.

You are right though. Realistically Melbourne should still win all. As good as he is there is adequate talent and cover in the team for one player.

I saw someone on LU suggest Smith would hurt more. Theoretically maybe but with both of them / Widdop can slot to FB, Hinchcliffe to hooker. Not a bad situation to be in.

The bye is handy too

The Dogs game is in Mackay and apparantely the city has quite a few Storm supporters, so it won't be a traditional away game as such.

Yep a tough away game becomes neutral.

Manly on Monday is the only toughie but if they only drop that one will still be clear on top when Slater returns
