I think he can shut a player down but hes never going to give us accurate kicking or rebound of good CHB's like Harry T, Mcpharlin, Bock, Gibson or Ben Reid

Personally i wouldnt mind trying him in that 3rd tall forward/resting ruck, rotating into the ruck role (Leigh Brown style). Just to see how he goes.

I mean we already have 2-3 good rucks but it might allow us to do something else with Ryder, even thought position probably is ruck, he showed he can play down back very well.

Hooker at the start of the year was very, very good - he skill aren't the greatest but he knows his limitations. Got a few niggling injuries during the year and didn't return the same player.

Hugely important player IMO.

I cringe watching him run.

Early on in the 2011 hooker was dominating with defensive marks ala lake in a few games. If he can do that consitantly will be a jet.

Agree. A fit Hooker gives us so much more flexibility with how we use Pears, Carlisle, Hurley and Ryder.

Agree Hooker looks clumsy and unnatural sometimes. The guy runs like a camel. There's plenty of Fletch about his movement. He's very good at reading the incoming ball though and intercepting the mark. Returns off half-back well too. I like Hooker... hopefully he doesn't feel too disgruntled about being put up for trade.

Hooker was brilliant at the start of the year.

Played his best quarter of footy I've ever seen him play in Round 4 against Carlton, watching the replay I believe he got something like 7 marks and 11 disposals in that first quarter in what was a goalless quarter for Carlton, was absolutely brilliant.

I feel he's a bit hit and miss in this area. When he's good, he's quite good overall. When he's tired, towards the third and fourth quarters, he can be a bit of a liability.

If he can condition his body better, and get stronger legs, core and a higher fitness base, he will be very valuable to us.

People need to stop judging his running based on that Buddy goal (which is constantly being played by Foxtel recently).

He was obviously exhausted during that run, but at least he kept giving it his all at the time.

Other times, he's a good runner with a full tank under his belt. But people don't notice it.

I've noticed that people never notice the good things he does, because he isn't a distinctive personality-rep like a Hurley, Carlisle, Ryder or Pears is. People should get off his back and pay attention to him more.

If Robinson can get his hammies right, then Hooker's confidence in them should allow him to run a lot better, he is a very important player, but we need a fully fit Pears to complement each other to get the very best out of our backline

I people are judging him on that chase they are just dumb and wouldnt worry about it, Franklin made McVeigh pretty stupid too, the last person I recall catching buddy was Varcoe.

As for Hooker all I have to say is that while he isnt the best defender going around, he has been very solid and consistent whilst in the team and it will have to be a very good player to take his spot in the team.

I'm not sure people are critical of that Franklin chase. At least you'd hope not.

Yep really the team should never let Franklin have such a free run at the goals. There is no KPD in the league that could keep up with him in that position and really Franklin never really got away from him. It was his amazing finish right on the boundary that made that goal ........ and the one that followed!!

Alot harder to run away from someone with a footy, when the person chasing doesnt have one.

I think people rate his running style basically only on that footage which is unfair. No doubt he was probably thinking about hammies pinging, probably cramping ect which will affect his running confidence and technique.

Hes an important asset, in the top 8-10 CHBs in the comp for me without really looking. Whos better? Reid, Taylor, Mcpharlin, Bock, Frawley, Gibson (is he even a CHB?), Trengrove (Port) and Davis has more talent but not yet proven - not too many IMO

Is Lil Wayne an Essendon supporter?

Is it a sign for us from the Illuminati itself?:p

Either way, I can't wait for some footy to start.:D

11 days to go!

What is it with dip shits wanting us to notice them. This guy reminds me of the James Earl Ray doco I saw last night.
