A lot of delusional people expecting Rohan to be part of our best 22. I will be ecstatic if he even plays half a season in the reserves, lets see what happens in 2014

Not wanting to be a wet blanket, but I'd be happy to see him play at any level again. If he breaks into the seniors some day, I will be stoked.

Neither were Nathan Brown or Michael Barlow. Their returns weren't raging success stories but they did come back, so I think I'll set my bar of optimism a little higher than hoping he plays park footy at some stage.

or Michael Voss

Who's in your best 22 for 2013? I know this thread is premature but I'm already missing footy and assuming we get Tippett and Bolton retires this is my best 22.

B: Shaw Richards Smith

HB: Mattner Grundy Johnson

C: Jetta Jack Hannebery

HF: Rohan Reid McVeigh

F: Goodes Tippett McGlynn

R: Mumford Kennedy ROK

B: Parker, Morton, Bird, LRT

Depth: Malceski, Pyke, Armstrong, White (If he stays), TDL, Mitchell, Spangher
Not a bad team. But you need Cunningham, Towers and Rampe as your last 3 listed depth players.

B: Shaw Richards Smith

HB: Mattner LRT Johnson

C: Jetta Jack Hannebery

HF: ROK Reid McVeigh

F: Goodes Tippett McGlynn

B: Parker, Morton, Bird, Pyke

EMG: Malceski, Towers, Armstrong

Don't think I've missed anyone, but there would obviously still be a bit of decent depth after that.

Spot on SM.

Mumford and Bolton are excellent depth players.......

Nothing wrong with Mumford not being in the team, I think Pyke was our best ruckman last year. If he can overcome his injuries it would be great to have him back, but late last year he couldn't move, he was incredibly slow, and didn't show any of his trademark aggressiveness. Would have no qualms over Pyke being the number 1 ruck.

No. Mike had a great year, really pushed on, and Mumford did have to battle with persistent injuries through the year, but it is clear who our number one ruckman is.

If fit it is clear, but I just have doubts Mumford will ever reach full fitness again. So far Mumford has had 1 good year, and the next 2 have been injury plagued. Screw the Brisbane player who dove into his knee.

Sorry yeah chuck in the Ruck line of Mumford, Bolton and kennedy, forgot a line. Shows how long it's been.

The coaches rated Pyke better than Mumford

... on their output last season, a season in which Mumford battled a number of injuries which kept him out of the team and limited his contributions when selected.

That doesn't change the fact that Mumford is the clear number one ruckman at the club going into 2013.

Totally agree, a fit and firing Mumford far exceeds anything that Pyke can bring to the team and that is no disrespect to Pyke, I actually think if the Mummy can overcome his niggling injuries he is definitely another one who along with Tippett brings tremendous upside to the team for another tilt at a premiership in 2013 compared to his output in 2012.

I agree but Pyke has done amazing job of making himself part of the partnership. Mumfords fitness means he needs regular breaks or miss matches and Pyke's ability to step has allowed us to do this. Mummy's no 1 but they do work a good partnership.

Yep I agree with your point, the development of Pyke over the past 18 months has been phenominal, I guess who knows should he continue his development where he could end up I guess the only down side is his age but the great think for us is that he can now hold his own and certainly is capable of taking the number 1 ruck if mummy is injured.
The question mark I have is if, and as you point out it probably is a big if .. .but if Mummy does get over his niggles and is able to get back to his 2010 form his output and TOG was very high so where does that leave Pyke especially with Tippett coming in as another tall forward and ability to pinch hit in the ruck?

Same for mine pretty much:
FB: Shaw, Ted, Smith
HB:Mattner, Grundy, AJ
C:Jetta, Jack, Mcveigh
HF:Hanners, Reid, Bolts
FF:Goodes, Tippett, Mcglynn
R: Mummy, Kennedy, ROK

Bench out of: Parker, Mal, Bird, Pyke and LRT

Obviously players like Hanners, Goodes and Parker can be rotated in mids. Also horses for courses with bench.

I am quite impressed with our depth; Armstrong, Morton, Towers, Rampe, Lamb, Cunners, et al all looking for games. Then players like Mitchell and Rohan who should probably be eased in to seniors for 2014 and the likes of Lockyer, Brown, NaismithMarsh etc for future. Havent seen spots being so heavily contested
