After re-watching the U18 championships I have the following observations,

  • For mine after Boyd (Who I am yet to see, but I'll take everyones word for it.) the best player in the draft is clearly Lewis Taylor, could care less that he's 175 cms, his balance is amazing, he's tough, nimble, the skill he has of either foot is Aka-like and has no quit, the game against Vic Metro was particularly impressive how he kept at it. I know its a big risk to take someone so small with a top five pick but a few inches doesn't make Kelly, Aish and Billings better players.
  • Really not sure about Kelly, aside from his endurance ability I don't see much there there upon further review, thought he had more of a burst and better footskills, 30 plus disposals in the SA game but not many of them impacted it.
  • Are we sure Jack Billings isn't just a small forward?
  • Aish was impressive when he got it, wish he would take the game on a bit more.
  • Freeman is interesting to me, had read that he needs to work on his disposal, but in the VC game it seemed more than adequate. Not saying we should take him at 4, but at least look at him, his speed is something we don't have in our Mids.
  • I get why Bontempelli is so tantalising to people.
  • Would stay away from Ben Lennon, has some Josh Hill-esque body language on the field.
  • Luke Dunstan is criminally underrated.
  • So is Zac Jones.
  • Its a shame he can't be drafted till next year cause Clem Smith is exactly what we need, a tough fast kid that takes the game on, would love him.
  • Matt Scharenberg will be a really good AFL player, he does everything really well has great composure, I'm not sure though how much upside he has, seems a touch slow, still really like him but you have to look at a players negatives as well as his positives.
Agree with just about everything here except Kelly. I've seen enough to be convinced he's worth pick 4 & is exactly what we need.

Also don't necessarily think Boyd is the best player in the draft. Most valuable? Definitely. But I think Aish & Taylor are more talented.

We've told Brown that if he's available at our pick then we're going to take him. I haven't heard about any interest in Thorp but we could be, who knows? If I were a betting man though, i'd bet that Thorp will get taken before Brown, so I don't think we're going to pick him up.

I reckon our interest in Thorp would increase if we somehow don't land Crameri

Clem Smith is rated number one pick for next year on one of the gurus (knightmare or Chris25 cant remember which) phantom drafts so he has been noticed alot by others too.

It will largely depend on who finishes last. If Saints finish last you reckon that they would pick a KPF. If the Giants finish last, then with their KPF's they're going to pick Smith because he's a midfielder. At this stage there isn't a clear #1, but Smith and Goddard are the frontrunners I believe.

How can I rewwtch them??

Taylor is a jet. If he was 5cm taller he'd be a top two pick.

He's not like Kennedy/Hrovat who had some doubts on their game, the only doubt on Taylor is his height.

He is. I'm now convinced we should take him at 4.

How quick is he? You'd take him over Aish if he slips down the order?
I still think Aish is the second best playing in the draft, but if he's gone I'd be happy to take Taylor.

He's basically a Brent Harvey clone.

Word going round that GWS are very into Scharenberg and Melbourne are offering pick 2 for Dylan Shiels from GWS. This would probably see GWS taking both Boyd and the Berg and Kelly likely going to the Saints. Aish here we come? Mind you my source is a demons fan I work with who just reads Demonland forums all day, but it's not entirely out of the realms of possibility.

Pick two for Shiels is overs for Melbourne in my opinion. Plus I'm sure Melbourne has come out a few times and said they are open to trading pick 2, but only for established and experienced players to help balance out their list. Cannot see it happening. But interesting rumor none the less.

Finding it hard to believe they'd be into Scharenberg. They chose a similarly undersized Key-Defender in Plowman last season, and they're now loaded with young tallish players in their defense.

Yeah take a few grains of salt with that rumour GrandBlue and _M_16_ , my source is, after all, second hand to a footy forum, but just spitballing here I think it would work out pretty well for us in the unlikely event. I thought Scharenberg was more a utility type than Plowman anyhow?

Not totally sure about this and it's more of a gut feel but I don't think we will take Aish at pick 4. I know we rate Scharenberg and Kelly above Aish. Just not sure who we would pick up at 4 if both the berg and Kelly are gone.

Kolodjashnij could be another good one. Athletic flanker and winger and is a decent height a 188cm.
