I know its early but we got the good news today that contrary to recent threats we will kick-off the new season with our regular win over Richmond. It is on Easter eve Thursday March 28th.

As expected we are also getting 2 games against Richmond, Collingwood and Essendon. ie Stuff any equalisation of the draw it is all about money.

So why do we play Richmond twice? Let them have the first round home game and let's play someone else.

Last week the crowd dropped to 46K - traditional rivals, hmmm. Only in the first clash of the year before their bandwagon annually collapses.

The AFL would get better crowds with us playing Hawthorn twice at the MCG and we'd get better practice for September. If we don't start beating them, we don't deserve to be there.

If the AFL could get away with scheduling Carlton vs Collingwood 22 times a year at the G they would... 22 weeks of guaranteed 80k + crowds

Fat Vlad would be walking around with permanently damp trousers...

Would much rather play Hawthorn twice than any other team. Can't remember the last time we played them twice in the same year and also the last time we beat them for that matter. Playing them twice will bring bigger crowds and a chance to finally beat them atleast once in a year.

Or a chance to lose twice to them in one year.

Time to let us have one of GWS/GC twice? ;)

Very very cool, and thanks for the lesson! I love your unique ink!

46K on a cold wet night with both teams travelling poorly wasn't a terrible result.

Well I turned up. A friend and several of his Richmond mates watched it on the TV because they weren't paying good money to go. Same friend wouldn't come in previous years either (but attends the season opener as a Tigers home game when Richmond are unbeaten!)

Our draw is almost the same each year - we play Richmond, Essendon, Collingwood and most probaly St.Kilda twice. With 18 teams in the comp, and if my maths is right, that means we get one more team twice. It's getting to the stage where the AFL might as well just re-hash the 2012 fixture and just use it again next year.

If Port, Melbourne, GC and Giants play each other twice which is likely, then there are opportunities for teams 7-14 to play one of them twice. Hence I will be very pissed off if we miss out on a soft win. Bloody weird how we seem to get that double against St Kilda, I can only think that it is an Etihad requirement.

And they're usually at the same time of year. Even the teams we verse once are at similar times of the year. It's like de ja vu every year. SO annoying. I dont mind who we play twice and once, but just mix it up a bit.
