Noone wanted to win? Was it a high quality match at least? Actually when you think about it, maybe one should wonder whether Stosur is match fixing, not doping :p

Fed cup tie v Suisse this w/e. Unfortunately I think the Aussies are in danger here. Basically everything is resting on Stosur, who is still struggling with her calf and the predicted cool weather is going to be a hindrance for her. She probably feels obliged to play for several reasons, but if it means completely burrying her RG chances I'd pull out. For whatever reason Rodionova, who's in much better form than Jarka and Dellacqua was not selected. You'd almost put Barty in as the number two.... Voegele for the Swiss is in form...

This tie has been washed out both Saturday and Sunday, they are now trying to get this tie started tonight. No coverage of the tie but this might be messing with Sam's run at Sttutagrt.

All tied at 1 rubber each. Sam getting it done in straight sets and Jarka losing in 2.

Onto the reverse singles and Molik has made the big call, Barty in! This will be the biggest match of Ash's short career, wish we could watch it, but doubt there is a stream anywhere.

Will be interesting to see if it comes down to the doubles whether Barty plays.

And we are back in the WG :thumbsu:

Barty won in straight sets, with a bit of pressure going into the match. Stosur won in straight sets as well and considering she has been injured, it is a great effort.

And some plaudits must go to Molik for making the call to bring in Barty for the reverse singles. Well done girls!

What a move from Molik!
ASH BARTY!!! That is a farking huge win. Voegele did very well at Charleston IIRC, so considering Sam has hardly played of late and Ash was in her first FC singles match they both did very well.

On a side note hope Jarka can sort her self out, she might've just copped another loss of confidence earlier today....

Those results make me very happy! :thumbsu: First off, looks like Sam's calf is pain free so that's a relief and a good performance form her. And what a result for Ash! what a gun, if her game develops over the next few years...

So why did Russia throw the fed cup final? Wonder if they'll do the same for their world group tie here next year.
They didn't throw it. Sharapova's injured, Kirilenko and Pavlyuchenkova were playing Sofia and I think Kuznetsova opted out. Just unfortunate scheduling.
