This lie reiterates that you're willing to say anything to make a point, even if it's not true. I'm not going to get involved any further into the mudflinging that everyone seems so willing to jump to on this issue.

Lie??? All you need to do is call the hotline yourself, they told us that on 2 separate occasions. You had 2.6mm of rain you egg.

Plenty of Warehouse grounds with turf wickets played on today. Maybe might be time to get a better weather forcaster, bom had it fine and beautiful when I checked Friday morning. If numbers weren't available why didn't you play the seniors game yesterday at Coomera and the reserves next week?

To be honest no day outside of a Saturday works for our players with their varied commitments.

Hof has been speaking with Oldman but only around options, and this was before discussions this afternoon with players, coaches and committee. At this stage we are not able to field our teams on any day outside of Saturday which is why we are so disappointed. We are now the team who is disadvantaged.

Like I've said, I am disappointed but at this stage we are unsure of what the result will be.

My apologies!
hey oldman , will you still be giving the vikings players next week in light of these shenanigans ? Or could they be looking at a forfeit. Cause your club has been giving them a hand?. I think everyone is just super cranky cause they wanna play footy, like we all do.

Looks like you have been fooled by Mr. BOM actually Oldman - no weather was reported post Friday night. In fact it the bureau was surprisingly accurate - great week, followed by shite Friday to clear that night into a ripper day Saturday!

Few ppl helping the Vikings I think Mango - at maroochy we had a shout out from them asking if any players wanted a kick in their 2's to contact the club. Think that is great tbh.

Maybe the councils/uq should not worry if the grounds get chopped up due to weather. And relies that players want to play, even if that means you come off after the game covered in mud and have to have a cold shower every week.
They should get rid of this wash out rule, it's just not cricket.

Attached is screen shot of email from UQ Sport re closure of ground. Ring Andrew Rhodes tomorrow (BTW he plays for the Calamvale seniors) and ask him if you must. Better still send me your mobile no and I will send you the photos the ground staff sent me at time they closed the ovals.

Hi

Sunday has now been announced closed.

Kind Regards,
Andrew

Why were hockey players warming up on your field yesterday then if ground was closed??? I would suggest uq enjoy having balls slapped around on them

Poor effort by u lads. To be honest was good to have the rest but just dont think u can pull the wool over our eyes. UQ have priors in doing this. Just think the league and all participants need to be made aware of this unsportsmanlike behavior.

We all take the field each week in this stardard of football for recreation only and for many of us it is the highlight of our week. Why should some softc**cks take this away from us???

My days are done but I wish to draw attention to such poor efforts and hope noone should experience the same cop out in the future. A precedence must be set so it doesnt happen again.

Please understand these are not the veiws of the coomera fc. Just some silly prick affiliated with them.

You blokes at UQ ever drank winners piss??? I dare say many of us clubs in qafl div 3 would love to serve you up a few samples for the remainder of the season. If u ever care to take the field.

wowsers - bit going on in here! thought the pine rivers spanking might have created some discussion but this is peak hour!

fair play to oldman for attempting to breakdown the process of the decision - appreciate may not be much consolation for the coomera boys and will be interested to see how it all plays out.

1 question though - I like many grew up playing footy down south in tas and know many others on here are from vic - cant for the life of me ever remembering a game being called off for frost, sleet, snow, rain hail etc etc and all the grounds there are maintained by local councils - sure u couldn't get on the ground during the week to train but Saturday was never in danger ( and if was the league sort to have an alternate venue arranged). So the question is why are the local councils up here so precious about there grounds? is UQ a privately owned ground? does it come down to an insurance risk now for people to play on grounds deemed too wet or too muddy? surely we aren't protecting the grounds simply for the way they look? plenty of amateur games going on in vic and tas in mud pits on a weekly basis.

Agree with u there boc. Like u I also played all my footy in vic until I arrived in the so called sunshine state 4 seasons ago. Since then I landed at the coomera football club which try there upmost week in week out to get there paying members on the field each week, win/lose, hail/shine.

From distant memory majority of grounds I played on there were council opperated, that is in both winter and also in summer when we play the gentlemans game. I am no curator but isnt sun and rain great for grass? We get plenty of both here in qld so cosmetics shouldnt be an issue, should take to time to recover. Sadly we had not much of the later (2.6 mm) this weekend. Maybe many claims may have been made for grass burns on blokes knees.

Tom Wills and the founders of our great game would be rolling in there graves. And to be honest I have had a gutful.

May I ask arent the afl trying to overtake as no. 1 sport here??? If so why let this rubbish occur?

On the lighter side, thanks for welcoming me to your forum, hope i dont take overs from swooper as the big footy serial pest.

Sorry for sharing my gripes and thank u for letting me vent my disappointment and frustation of the weekends events.

May I leave u with a thought provoking passage from my former club song.

In any weather you will see us with a grin,
Risking head and shin
If were behind we'll never mind
We'll fight and fight and win

The point that frustrates/upsets me most is regardless of whether Field 7 was or was not open (forgive me also for not taking a letter TO- UQ FROM-UQ as concrete) . It was the fact that by 4pm Friday the game was cancelled (again I will stress I was told due to UQ having exams- this is NOT fabricated) a luxury no other club has seemed to been given.

We have faced many rained out matches in my time at Coomera as the home side and on EVERY occasion have had to wait until the last minute to make any decision. Each time we have played, never cancelling a match.

In fact it was Doug Hale who once told us (last year vs Moorooka) that if we failed to play on our ground OR find an alternative then we would forfeit AND be fined by AFLQ regardless of possible sanction from council. Cold, hard and uncompromising- the way AFLQ has always been.

Now those who frequent Bigfooty know well that I am not on here slagging another team, or fabricating the truth, or being unjust. I am purely presenting the facts. I apologise to those who find this as an attack on their club as it is not. It is simply presenting the facts as I know them to be.

In my heart of hearts I believe that if any other team had phoned AFLQ and claimed their ground was unplayable they would have been forced to find an alternative, regardless of player commitments.

I think everyone on this forum would agree with me on that.

Definitely! If you can't field a team/make it to an alternative ground, tough shit. You should get 0 points and opponent get 4. A team shouldn't be rewarded for playing the system to avoid a forfeit. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on their team lists down the stretch to see if they weaken their 1s to bolster their 2s.

Bloody hell, I leave you kids to your own devices for 5 minutes and everything turns to shit.

Firstly, I think the UQ v Coomera issue is 100% the fault of AFLQ for letting it get to this point. Keep it simple FFS!!! UQ didnt field 2 teams, alternatives were available and they didn't deliver on their obligation to the league. That right there is a Forfiet. 4 points to Coomera and we move on and avoid this shit storm.

Secondly, Pine Rivers were far too good for us on the weekend which is obvious by the 10 goal score line. Boucher again put on a clinic, and they were simply too strong in the middle for us despite being full strength and confident we could get the job done.

So a draw has been awarded for UQ v Coomera in both grades. UQ need to step up and take the blame for the no game on the weekend and except the forfeit! Stop protecting your 2s, the weather was a non-issue clearly since no other games were cancelled.
