League is in no win situation - tough job this one. At the end of the day if you have both 1's and 2's playing finals you should be rapt as a footy club imo.
100% agree. We only care about 1 week being at the same ground, and that is the GF!

Did someone only put the 1st quarter score in for the Coomera v Logan game, or was it that low scoring?
That was the score. We had about 40mm of rain in the back half of the week, with a majority being Friday night and Saturday.

It was pretty ugly out there!

Not a great day out on the scoreboard for the red lions on our trip up to play the swannies BUT a great bunch of guys who showed wonderful sportsmanship and treated us to some good old hospitality.
Best of luck to your senior team in the finals boys and look forward to crossing swords in the ressies finals games at some point. :)

Looks like it was a good tussle in the Ressies match. The top 4 is very very even in both grades.

Ressies finals will be interesting, with Pine Rivers and Coomera both having teams in the 1s finals, Ipswich and UQ should have a better selection of their players to pick from.

Alex old mate. Get over the stacking thing. If you have ever run a footy club or in fact coached a side you will know what I am talking about!!

His name is Axel you dislexic fu ck wad! Have you got a guilty conscience or something? If you take a look between the lines Axe is stating you and the switch have all qualified players availble as opposed to the other two having to pick from who is not playing seniors. Honestly have you been round footy long because you don't go about promoting you club real well. Before you ask I was once involved with the Robina Roos but have no real affiliation with any club and just watch the odd game when I can. So I couldn't give a shit about how I promote my club.

What I love about this is you call him a "dislexic fu ck wad" for getting his name wrong, and within the next few sentences call him "axe". Genius

Oh no. The stacking issue is back on the agenda. Let me get my picnic rug and enjoy the show!

I do agree that perhaps Axels point was misconstrued, however I am known for finding the best intentions on even the worst of comments.

Also, lysdexia is nothing to about be joked!

Haha, last bit gave me a real laugh. Thanks for that !!

Axel,
If I took the wrong message from your post then please accept my apologies!

Gib Ballers/Pooper were correct. Coomera and Pine Rivers get the leftovers from their 1s, while UQ and Ipswich can select players that would have been playing 1s had they made the finals.

Only reason I have brought up the stacking issue previously, is to keep the clubs honest by keeping the issue in the open.

Big Ballers - It seems we both found "Axel" tough but here is a new one for you - its spelt "dyslexic"!!
BTW "knob" is meant to have a "k" in it.

Are you the "stacking" watchdog Axel??

FFS - you only need to play 5 games in the 2nds if a bloke plays more than 3 games in the 1's - thats not alot of games imo. Pretty easy to qualify alot of guys if you have a fairly even squad.

My assessment without being familiar with the inner sanctum of the club is that UQ would have a top 10-15 players who would play seniors every week, and the next 15-20 blokes would be fairly even and play up and down depending on all the usual (work, ins an outs, requirements of higher grades). Come the finals they are entitled to play the best 22 qualified blokes and I highly doubt they would burn a bloke who's played all season for a guy who has only played the few.

They didn't "blitz" the field in finals last year so you couldn't say they stacked. Looking forward to our finals campaign regardless!

Thank you Swoopa - you are spot on mate. We would not burn a regular ressies player to play a senior. Not the right thing by anyone and a sure way to ensure you don't get those players back next year.
Just as a passing comment the issues that the rest of you guys have with movements between your 2 teams is compounded at UQ because we have to fill vacancies for 2 teams above. For example we have our best 5 seniors taken up to play Div 1 this week which meant that 5 ressies players had to double up. It is no wonder we get beaten by considerable margins some weeks by senior teams in Div 3.
Back the ressies - we are facing a similar finals turnout to last year. Many people on this forum had delight in dragging out the tired old stacking debate but the fact is that the Coomera Ipswich semi game went into extra time and there was 13 or 14 points in the GF. No one who played in any of those games had any issues with stacking - from either side of the fence - because it just didnt happen.
It looks to be a much much closer battle in the ressies this year and I am betting that all 4 teams cant wait for it to start.
Anyway enough of the stacking sledge. Lets all get on with enjoying the last few weeks of fixture games and enjoy that fact that the finals is going to be a cracker - its there for anyone's taking!!

Worth you guys reading thru the NEAFL site bc there are MASSIVE changes ahead for next year that will potentially filter down to this comp in due course

From what I took from the meeting on Sunday it seems that AFLQ do a very good job of everything if you are asking them.

But seriously if done correctly this could be fantastic for QLD footy in the fact it should strengthen the competition and level out the field in the lower grades. If common sense prevails we should all be pretty happy with what has been proposed. Unfortunately since moving to QLD common sense is not something I have seen a lot of....

Promotion / Relegation was floated as an idea of what might come in, I'd like to hear peoples thought on that. I for one agree with it.

Big fan of promotion / relegation if done properly and clubs have the right agenda.

interesting to get a gauge of what is the right mix numbers wise and commiment to years is the grey area i see - you dont want a team winning a spoon every 2nd year in a higher comp to then win the flag in the lower comp every other year.

also think you need to take both grades permformances into consideration - the 3 teams promoted from div 3 to div 2 this year had reserves teams who didnt make the finals in div 3 - real tough ask to then ask them to play in a higher league and i think the results of Redcliffe, Nambour and Cab sitting 9,10,11th in the 2s currently proves that

I agree with BOC and Gaz. A long as it is done in the correct fashion it makes a lot of sense. Hopefully AFLQ are looking at this long and hard and really looking about the bookends of each proposed league and make sure there isn't a huge gap.

Noone wants to play in a lop sided league to save a bit of driving.
